Huanglong Travertine Pools, China 🇨🇳
Intensely colorful calcite pools in Southern China.
For 2.2 miles in the Huanglong Valley, naturally formed terraced hot spring pools gently flow between rugged mountains and forests. Filled with awe-inspiring creatures known only to China it has been dubbed “Fairy Land on Earth.”
Untouched forests gently slope toward the water, and Golden Snub-Nosed Monkeys and Giant Pandas have made the fantasy world their home.
Huanglong is protected both nationally, and by UNESCO.
📍Location: in the north-west of Sichaun Province, the Huanglong

| 2 | Atlantic Road, Averøy, Norway 🇳🇴
The Atlantic Road is just about the most scenic route one could imagine.
Driving along the Atlantic Road is like teetering on the edge of the sea. The road’s roller coaster-feel, curvy bridges, and phenomenal views have made it a favorite of road trippers and motorcyclists.
It was also designated a Cultural Heritage Site, is considered a National Tourist Route, and has been recognized as the Norwegian Construction of the Century.
📍Location: It passes by Hustadvika, an unsheltered part of the Norwegian Sea, connecting the island of Averøy with the mainland and Romsdalshalvøya peninsula.

| 3 | St. Regis Lhasa Resort Swimming Pool, Lhasa, Tibet 🇨🇳
Described as "the world's most blinging pool."
On top of a hill with incredible views in Tibet and only minutes away from tourism-friendly UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the St. Regis Lhasa Resort is one of the world’s most decadent retreats. Surrounded by the towering Himalayas, the hotel, which is situated on eight acres of land, bills itself as “standing on the roof of the world.”
The resort’s 162 guest rooms, villas, and suites - each with either mountain views or a view of the Potala Palace, the museum that formerly housed the Dalai Lama until 1959 - feature high speed Internet access, 24-hour butler service, Bose sound systems, large marble bathrooms, 42-inch plasma televisions, and more.
Location: No.22, Jiangsu Road, Lhasa, Xizang, China

| 4 | Koekohe Beach, New Zealand 🇳🇿
Koekohe Beach - the beach with giant boulders.
Unusually-giant boulders dot the eroded Otago coastline along a stretch of Koekohe Beach. Scientists are unable to explain what is expected to be a natural phenomenon. They are unusually large and either occur scattered in the region or in clusters. Though the beach faces erosion now and then, the rocks refuse to change their structure and remain firmly cemented in the ground. This is a must-visit site for nature lovers. It is also one of the top cool things to do in New Zealand.
📍Location: Not far north of the city of Dunedin is Koekohe Beach, a long, sandy beach on the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand

| 5 | Meteora, Kalabaka, Greece 🇬🇷
Monasteries on rock pillars, once accessible only by frayed ropes.
In the foothills of the Pindus mountains, above the central Greek plains of Thessaly, is a series of geological wonders that stick out from the ground.
Wind, water, and the harsh temperatures have carved out a series of gigantic sandstone pillars, some of them hundreds of meters high.
What better place to establish a monastery then in, as Meteora is sometimes translated, “the heavens above”?
At its peak the complex included 20 monasteries, however only six of them remain today; five are for men only, and the sixth for women.
📍Location: near the town of Kalabaka at the northwestern edge of the Plain of Thessaly near the Pineios river and Pindus Mountains.

| 6 | Mahabat Maqbara, Junagadh, India 🇮🇳
This otherworldly palace-mausoleum complex is the stuff eternal dreams are made of.
A smashing blend of Gothic and Islamic ornamentation, the Mahabat Maqbara complex remains one of India’s best kept secrets.
This striking structure rising from out of nowhere is the mausoleum of Wazir Bahaduddinbhai Hasainbhai, one of the chief nobles in the Court of Nawab Mahabat Khan II of Junagadh.
📍Location: in the heart of Junagadh, 5 minutes from the Junagadh Railway Station

| 7 | Fjaðrárgljúfur, Iceland 🇮🇸
Strange rock formations tower above the river that snakes through this enchanting Icelandic canyon.
At just over a mile long, it certainly doesn’t boast the enormous expanses of the world’s other mighty canyons. But what it may lack in size, it absolutely makes up for in beauty.
The canyon is made up of an assortment of crazy rock formations. They stretch skyward, flanking a river like gargantuan grass-clad guardians. A walking trail traces the top of the crags, leading to a certain spot that lets hikers feel as though they’re standing atop a kingdom of sublime natural wonders.
📍Location: a bit off the path off Iceland’s famous Ring Road

| 8 | The Giant Ghibli Clock, Tokyo, Japan🇯🇵
Tokyo’s only Vaudeville-cuckoo clock–steampunk-Victorian curio cabinet time piece.
Officially called the “NI-TELE REALLY BIG Clock,” four or five times a day this wacked-out symphonic mega-machine spins, dances, whirs and clanks. And as a side gig, it also tells the time.
It was designed by Hayao Miyazaki, the renowned director and co-founder of Studio Ghibli, and while it’s not exactly drawn from his 2004 film Howl’s Moving Castle, it’s been likened to the aesthetic of the anime classic.
The clock is huge: over 20 tons of copper and steel, three stories high and 60 feet wide.
📍Location: in the Shiodome section of Tokyo, at the Nittele Tower

| 9 | Pasaje de Lodares, Albacete, Spain 🇪🇸
Built in 1925, this glass-roofed shopping arcade is known for its modernist Italian architecture.
Though it is considered one of the most beautiful streets in Spain, Pasaje de Lodares is not exactly a street.
Constructed between 1925 and 1929, this emblematic passage represents a blend of modernist and eclectic architectural styles, designed by architects Justo Millán and Pedro Cerdán.
The façade of Pasaje de Lodares is adorned with floral motifs, sculptures, and intricate ironwork, with elements of Art Nouveau and Art Deco design. Below your feet, there is a floor covered with slabs of marble and above your head there is a stunning stained glass ceiling.
📍Location: in the heart of Albacete between Tinte and Mayor streets, Pasaje de Lodares

| 10 | Sevanavank, Sevan, Armenia🇦🇲
This ancient monastery complex was transformed from an island to a peninsula when the lake was partially drained.
The Monastery complex of Sevanavank is surrounded by such arresting natural beauty it’s no wonder there are two local legends attached to it.
The black-and-orange stone construction of the churches is offset by the ornate orange and green andesite and limestone khachkars, stone blocks with intricate designs carved into them. The sparkling azure lake creates a breathtaking backdrop.
The complex dates back to the 4th century CE.

| 11 | Havasupai Falls, Supai, Arizona 🇺🇸
This secluded aqua waterfall in the Grand Canyon is the perfect swimming hole, and the Havasupai tribe's fiercely protected natural wonder.
The Grand Canyon draws in over five million tourists each year and is hailed as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
But hidden deep within a side canyon, on the reservation of the local Havasupai tribe, completely surrounded by Grand Canyon National Park and so not really in a National Park, lies something lesser-known to tourists yet unparalleled in beauty: Havasupai Falls.
The reason for the picturesque turquoise color is the high levels of calcium carbonate in the spring-fed waters of Havasu Creek, the source of the five waterfalls. These high levels also create 70-degree travertine pools at the base of some of the falls, making them the perfect swimming holes.
📍Location: near the Supai Village

| 12 | Treepod Restaurant, Amphoe Ko Kut, Thailand 🇹🇭
The treepod restaurant on the island of Koh Kood, Thailand, may be the only eatery in the world where the servers wear harnesses.
Diners must make a short trek through the island’s beachside rainforest to reach their “pod.”
These egg-shaped, handmade structures are built by a resident craftsman from locally sourced bamboo and rattan, and resemble the nests of native birds. The pods are hoisted by electric cables 36 feet in the air to float among the rainforest canopy. Patrons enjoy unobstructed views of the Gulf of Thailand while their waiter soars through the massang trees on zip-lines with their food. Much of the menu is sourced from the eco-resort’s organic garden, featuring Thai classics, seafood, and fresh fruit platters.
📍Location: on the island of Koh Kood, Thailand

| 13 | Bigar Waterfall, Caraș-Severin, Romania 🇷🇴
Moss and stone turn this waterfall into an otherworldly liquid veil.
The rounded waterfall is almost eight meters high, and falls over an unusual and dramatic green carpet of moss. Unlike more roaring falls, this waterwork flows over the apex of a fat, rounded stone, and is diverted into a sheet of countless small streams that issue from the bottom of the stone which juts out over the basin below.
The otherworldly beauty of the site even earned it a place as the number one interesting waterfall in Romania.
📍Location: in the Anina Mountains on the Mini River, tin caras-severin county in the western part of Romania

This stately home once held one of the most extravagant events of the 1800s.
The castle was completed in 1802, the castle layout had four towers surrounding a central, round keep that acted as the family’s country residence. At its height, it was considered only second to Culzean Castle for its grandeur.
Archibald, the 13th Earl of Eglinton, is famous for his riotous lifestyle, when he took control of the family estate he went on to become famous for an extraordinary gesture that became known as the “Eglinton Tournament.”
The only visible reminder of what was the most colorful event of Eglinton Castle’s history is the Tournament Bridge, a short walk away from the castle ruins.

The fairy tale castle of the "fairy-tale king."
Sleeping beauty castle at disneyland, Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom and numerous other magical castles were all inspired by a real castle: Neuschwanstein Castle, the awe-inspiring retreat of the “fairy-tale king,” Ludwig II of Bavaria.

| 19 | Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum, Singapore 🇸🇬
Completed in 2007, this $62 million complex is a popular tourist attraction in Singapore’s vibrant Chinatown.
That may seem like quite an investment to honor a fragment of bone, but the tooth purportedly belongs to one of the most famous religious figures in history—the Buddha.
The tooth is located on the fourth story of the temple in the Sacred Light Chamber.
Even if you miss the tooth, the temple itself is very impressive, featuring multiple floors of buddha statues, nagas (the popular Southeast Asian dragon-snakes that guard sacred relics), and impressive ceremonial venues in which to pray and meditate.
📍Location: in the Chinatown district of Singapore

| 20 | Ushaiqer Heritage Village, Ushaiqer, Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦
Abandoned station along an ancient pilgrimage route.
Ushaiqer is one of the oldest settlements in the region.
In the old times, it used to be a necessary stop for pilgrims coming from Kuwait, Iraq, and Iran and heading further west toward the holy sites of Islam. Ushaiqer first appears in the writings of Al-Hutay’a, an Arab poet that lived in the 7th century, but its origins are probably much older.
The idea of a “heritage village” brings to mind a place where one can observe a traditional lifestyle. Ushaiqer fits the bill in the sense that one can observe traditional architecture and visit a museum displaying ancient weapons, everyday utensils, embroidered clothing, and artisanal jewelry. The old section of Ushaiqer, however, is abandoned.
📍Location: about 200 kilometers northwest of Riyadh
