Bolton pleads guilty to Count Twelve of the indictment; all other counts are dismissed. But... as part of the stipulation, Bolton agrees that the DOJ had the evidence to convict him on all other counts AND that the plea agreement should be "treated as if the Defendant had been convicted of the additional counts..." This is important because it takes Bolton's offense level up a few points. Parties stipulate that: - A prison sentence of "no greater than 60 months" and a fine of $2.25 million are appropriate. - Bolton also agrees to engage in up to 100 hours of community service for DOJ. - Bolton also agrees to have a nice, long chat with members of the USIC and DOJ. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct 28, 2026. I doubt Bolton gets prison time, but hey, it could happen. Let's take a step back and think about what this is all about: Bolton sent drafts of his tell-all book, basically just stories about his time in the Trump Admin, to his wife and daughter for them to review and give feedback on. His crime was including information in those drafts that was classified (transmission) and keeping digital and/or hard copies of those drafts (retention).
