But... as part of the stipulation, Bolton agrees that the DOJ had the evidence to convict him on all other counts AND that the plea agreement should be "treated as if the Defendant had been convicted of the additional counts..."
This is important because it takes Bolton's offense level up a few points.
Parties stipulate that:
- A prison sentence of "no greater than 60 months" and a fine of $2.25 million are appropriate.
- Bolton also agrees to engage in up to 100 hours of community service for DOJ.
- Bolton also agrees to have a nice, long chat with members of the USIC and DOJ.
Sentencing is scheduled for Oct 28, 2026.
I doubt Bolton gets prison time, but hey, it could happen.
Let's take a step back and think about what this is all about:
Bolton sent drafts of his tell-all book, basically just stories about his time in the Trump Admin, to his wife and daughter for them to review and give feedback on.
His crime was including information in those drafts that was classified (transmission) and keeping digital and/or hard copies of those drafts (retention).
What should the punishment be for such things?

This case marked the first time that an Antifa cell was hit with terrorism charges.
16 defendants.
Before trial, 7 defendants took plea deals for one count of material support to terrorists; the other 9 defendants went to trial and were convicted in March on charges that included rioting, terrorism, attempted murder, conspiracy, use of explosives, etc.

Autumn Hill - 50 years in federal prison.
Zachary Evetts - 50 years in federal prison.

Judge McFadden DENIES the defense's motion to disqualify @USAttyPirro and @DAGToddBlanche from the case.
Defense had argued that Blanche and Pirro being at the scene of the alleged crime made them both witnesses and potential victims, that their public comments showed prejudice and bias, and that Pirro’s friendship with Trump created a conflict and appearance of impropriety.
It’s an interesting situation and an unsurprising order, well handled by McFadden.
It would have been amusing if DOJ had said "Okay, no problem, we'll move the case to Virginia or West Virginia or some other district that Allen travelled through on his way to D.C.
Might have resulted in a less sympathetic jury pool for Allen.

| 18 |  The NYT is saying it without saying it: the Newsoms are under investigation by the FBI.
The investigation began in 2022, under the Biden Admin, when the FBI began looking at Newsom's former Chief of Staff Dana Williamson, California Deputy State Attorney General Sean McCluskie, and lobbyist Greg Campbell for their roles in a conspiracy to steal campaign funds from Biden HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra plus PPP loan fraud and other forms of corruption.
In 2024, during the course of the investigation, the FBI captured communications between lobbyists in Sacremento, D.C., and Newsom's CoS Dana Willaimson.
By late fall 2025, all three had been indicted. Campbell and McCluskie plead guilty. Last month, so did Williamson.
And now it's Gavin's and Jennifer's turn.
