After decades of being considered a potential Nobel Prize winner, Doris Lessing finally received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2007 at the age of 87.
What makes her story remarkable is that she was not sitting at home waiting for the announcement. When reporters approached her outside her London home with the news, her reaction became one of the memorable moments surrounding the Nobel Prize.
