*Muharram 1446* "...the superior fast after (fasting) the month of Ramadān is fasting the month of Allāh, Al-Muharram." • Sahīh Muslim (1163) قال الحسن: إن الله افتتح السنة بشهر حرام وختمها بشهر حرام فليس شهر في السنة بعد شهر رمضان أعظم عند الله من المحرم وكان يسمى شهر الله الأصم من شدة تحريمه Al-Hasan al-Basrī (d.110H) said, "Allāh began the year with a sacred month and ended it with a sacred month. There is no month in the year after the month of Ramadān that is greater in the sight of Allāh than Muharram. “Someone wrote to ‘Umar b. al-Khattāb رضي الله عنه, ‘O Leader of the faithful! Who is better? - 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐭, 𝐨𝐫 - a man who feels desire to commit a sin, but does not commit it?’ ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab رضي الله عنه, said: Indeed, those who desire sin but refrain and do not act upon it are from amongst those: أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱمۡتَحَنَ ٱللَّهُ قُلُوبَہُمۡ لِلتَّقۡوَىٰ‌ۚ لَهُم مَّغۡفِرَةٌ۬ وَأَجۡرٌ عَظِيمٌ  “They are the ones whose hearts الله has tested for righteousness. ‘Amr Ibn Al-‘As رضي الله عنه said: "If any of you knew the reality of the hellfire, he would scream until his voice broke, and he would pray until his spine fractures." [Kitāb az-Zuhd wa Al-raqā'iq, pg. 1007]

Days of Tashrīq  📿 'Ikrimah (d.105H), a senior most student of ibn Abbās (ر) said: "It is highly desirable to say during the days of Tashrīq: ربنا آتنا في الدنيا حسنة وفي الآخرة حسنة وقنا عذاب النار 'Our Rabb, grant us goodness in this world and goodness in the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire.'" {2:201} Al-Hāfidh ibn Rajab (d.795H) commented: وهذا الدعاء من أجمع الأدعية للخير وكان النبي ﷺ يكثر منه وروي: أنه كان أكثر دعائه وكان إذا دعا بدعاء جعله معه فإنه يجمع خير الدنيا والآخرة "This du'ā is one of the most comprehensive supplications for seeking wholesome goodness. The Prophet ﷺ would say it often, as it's narrated it was his most frequent du'ā. When supplicating, he would combine it with this one, for it brings together the goodness of this world and the Hereafter." 📖  لطائف المعارف (1/290)

⚠️To fast on Day of Arafat (and gain the specific rewards from it) make intention before Fajr. "In the case of a supererogatory fast that is done for a specific reason, it is essential to form the intention from the night before (i.e., from before dawn)." [See: islamqa.info/amp/en/answers/218362] ‼️If one forgot to make the Niyah before Fajr, it is still recommended to fast on the day, but it will only be counted as a general supererogatory fast. [Keeping in mind that good deeds on these blessed days weigh heavier]
