| 5 |  Corporal John D. Tanner of Company F 28th Virginia Infantry Regiment. The 28th Virginia fought in almost every major battle of the War Between the States with The Army of Northern Virginia from the First Battle of Manassas to Appomattox. The regiment suffered heavy casualties during the war. When the war started the unit had 600 men in total and when the unit surrendered at Appomattox only 3 officers and 51 men survived. We don’t know what happened to Corporal Tanner, but we will make sure he is not forgotten. | 321 |
