Communications Minister Michelle Rowland has insisted that the Albanese Government is committed to bringing new laws aimed at making social media more accountable. Speaking to Sky News Australia, Ms Rowland says that the government is determined to criminalise any hate speech that satisfied the criteria of the suggested legal reforms. Penalties were not revealed by the Minister, however there is currently strong engagement across the communications sector to clamp down on hate speech and to prevent harm in the community.
