| 6 | Every pensioner household in Scotland will receive a winter fuel payment next year, the Scottish government has announced.
Social Justice Secretary Shirley-Anne Somerville said those in receipt of qualifying benefits like Pension Credit would get £200 or £300 depending on their age, while all others would get £100.
The funds - which are limited to one payment per household - will be paid through a new Scottish Parliament benefit, which will not be ready until late 2025.
The UK government scrapped universal entitlement to winter fuel payments earlier this year, with only those on Pension Credit or other benefits eligible.

| 13 |  Equalities Minister Kaukab Stewart has called for the UK Government to consider a pilot proposal in Scotland which would give people seeking asylum the right to work in some parts of Scotland.
The Scottish Right to Work Pilot Proposal proposes a number of changes to current UK policy, including enabling the right to work from six months instead of twelve months, and removing restrictions on the types of work they can undertake. Additionally, those on the pilot would have access to support around key topics such as employability and language learning.

National Records of Scotland (NRS) said the total was up from 89 in 2022, with its latest report noting drug misuse deaths accounted for about two-fifths (41%) of all estimated homeless deaths in Scotland last year.
However, it said the rise “follows a similar pattern to the general population which saw an increase in drug misuse deaths in 2023 after a fall in 2022”.
Overall, the figures showed an estimated 242 deaths among homeless people in 2023 – with this almost unchanged from the figure of 244 the previous year.

At no point, during this clip does he say that (if passed) this bill could be in time expanded like what has happened elsewhere, it's simply a case of using worst case scenarios in order to win over public opinion. I am yet to see anything anywhere that says that it will NEVER be expanded.
And I speak as a guy who has twice in his life been at rock bottom, I don't want to see people ending their lives. I empathise with those who feel that way, and until I see anything written that says that this bill will never, ever be expanded then I am sorry, I will never get behind it.
