3 MISTAKES I SEE PHD STUDENTS MAKE:
1. Listing theories instead of using them
Bad: "This study is anchored on 4 theories."
Good: "Bandura’s Self-Efficacy Theory explains WHY students drop out when they don’t believe they can finish. That’s why I’m measuring confidence in Chapter 3."
2. Choosing theories because they are popular
Just because TAM is everywhere doesn’t mean it fits your study on mental health. Pick the glasses that actually fit your problem.
3. Writing it after data collection
Your framework decides what data you collect. If you do it backwards, your data won’t answer your research questions.
If you need my 10-minute quick 3-step test for your framework, comment THEORETICAL TEST, I will send it to you👇

WHAT A THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK ACTUALLY IS:
Look at this diagram.
A theoretical framework is a set of:
1. Concepts - The key words you’ll use. Ex: "Self-efficacy", "Digital divide"
2. Theories - The big ideas that already explain part of your problem. Ex: Bandura, TAM, Diffusion of Innovation
3. Ideas - The way other scholars have linked those concepts before
4. Assumptions - What you are choosing to believe about how the world works
...that serve as a foundation for understanding a particular phenomenon or problem.
Think of it like this:
If your research is a house, your theoretical framework is the foundation.
Without it, your literature review, methodology, and findings will collapse.

YOUR THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK IS NOT A TEXTBOOK DEFINITION
I perused 12 proposals last week.
9 of them got the same comment from supervisors:
"Where is your theoretical framework?"
And 7 of those students replied: "But I defined it na. It's on page 8."
Here’s the problem.
Most of us treat the theoretical framework like a definition to copy.
But your supervisor isn’t asking for a dictionary.
They’re asking: "What glasses are you wearing to see this problem?"

Another set of GES Recruitment to take place in November
There are about 10,000 teachers being recruited. Process ongoing.
About 7,000 into GES, and about 3,000 into TVET, making the 10,000.
The next set of recruitment will happen around November, as our Minister said.
The ultimate aim is to seamlessly fill every single classroom with teachers, recruiting all unemployed trained teachers, both backlog and current, from both the Colleges and the Universities.
Your only responsibility in this entire process is to,
1. be on standby, so anytime the portal is open, then you apply.
2. be intentional about only obtaining information only from the official GES pages, and the spokesperson. Too many false and wrong stories circulating, as expected.

"The teacher remains pivotal to the school environment; it is why our government places priority on the motivation and welfare of teachers."
