Simple Present Tense Use with Examples The simple present tense is used to talk about actions that are regular, habitual, factual, or generally true. --- 1. To express habitual or routine actions Used for things we do every day or regularly. Examples: I wake up early every day. She goes to school by bus. They play cricket in the evening. --- 2. To express general facts and universal truths Used for facts that are always true. Examples: The sun rises in the east. Water boils at 100°C. Birds fly in the sky. --- 3. To express habits Used to show personal habits or repeated actions. Examples: He drinks milk every morning. She reads books before sleeping. We respect our teachers. --- 4. To express permanent states or situations Used for things that do not change easily. Examples: My father works in a bank. She lives in Hyderabad. I believe in honesty. --- 5. To express fixed schedules, timetables, and programs Used for official or planned timings. Examples: The school opens at 9 a.m. The train arrives at 6 o’clock. The exam starts tomorrow. --- 6. To give instructions or directions Used in rules, instructions, and commands. Examples: Open your books. Write your name at the top. Switch off the lights.
