36 year-old Didarul Islam, a Bangladeshi Muslim immigrant who served as a police officer in the NYPD was among four people killed after a gunman wielding an assault rifle stormed a skyscraper in the heart of New York City.
Three civilians, two male and one female, were also killed and another man is in a critical condition.
Suspected lone gunman Shane Tamura, a 27-year-old from Nevada, also died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

🚨 Joseph Czuba, a 73-year-old landlord from Illinois was sentenced to 53 years in prison for the brutal murder of six-year-old Palestinian American boy Wadee Alfayoumi and the attempted murder of the boy’s mother, Hanan Shaheen.
Czuba targeted them in October 2023 because of their Islamic faith and as a response to the ongoing genocide by Israel in Gaza.
Czuba died on Thursday in the custody of the Illinois corrections department. The cause of death hasn’t been determined, but Czuba had stage 4 cancer, according to his attorney.

A 66-year-old man who released rats near a mosque in a series of racially motivated hate crimes has avoided imprisonment.
Edmund Fowler targeted Sheffield Grand Mosque on four separate occasions between May and June, bringing wild rodents to the site.
CCTV footage showed him removing a cage from the trunk of his car and releasing the rats onto the pavement outside the mosque.
In mobile phone videos filmed by Fowler himself, he could be heard speaking to the rats, saying things like, “guess where you’re going,” “say bye bye,” and “I’ll point you in the right direction.”
Fowler, admitted to four charges of racially aggravated harassment at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court.
Fowler was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months. He was also prohibited from approaching any mosque or visiting certain areas of the city for the same period.
Court footage showed Fowler parking near Sheffield Grand Mosque on Grimesthorpe Road, where he shouted racist insults at people entering the building.

On this day in 2014, the Israeli occupation forces bombed and killed four young boys who were playing football at a beach in Gaza.
The boys: Ismail Mohammed Bakr (9), Zakaria Ahed Bakr (10), Ahed Atef Bakr (10), Mohamed Ramez Bakr (11), were all cousins and their killings were witnessed by journalists from around the world, who were at a hotel only a few hundred metres away.
After international condemnation from certain media outlets, the occupation forces held an ‘investigation’, however it decided that it was not guilty of the crimes it committed.

Rahma Ayad, a 26-year-old Algerian nursing trainee was stabbed to death in the stairwell of her apartment building in Hanover, Germany.
According to police and eyewitnesses, neighbours heard her cries for help and alerted authorities. She was found with multiple stab wounds to her chest and shoulder, and died shortly after emergency services arrived.

Narrated Shaddād ibn Aws رضي الله عنه: The Prophet (ﷺ) said "The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allāh is:
اللهم أنت ربي، لا إله إلا أنت ، خلقتني وأنا عبدك، وأنا على عهدك ووعدك ما استطعت أعوذ بك من شر ما صنعت أبوء لك بنعمتك علي، وأبوء بذنبي، فاغفر لي فإنه لا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت
The Prophet (ﷺ) added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise."

Transliteration: Allāhumma anta rabbī, lā ilāha illā anta, khalaqtanī wa-anā ʿabduka, wa-anā ʿalā ʿahdika wa-waʿdika mā’istaṭaʿtu, aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā ṣanaʿtu abūʾu laka bi-niʿmatika ʿalayy, wa-abūʾu laka bidhanbī, fa’ighfir lī fa-innahu lā yaghfir al-dhunūba illā ant
Translation: O Allāh, You are my Lord, there is no God but You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I abide by Your covenant and promise (to honour it) as best as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil that I have committed. I acknowledge Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for surely none can forgive sins but You.
