Our hearts are heavy tonight as we extend our deepest condolences to Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones and his wife, Jan, on the loss of Jan’s beautiful mother, Dorothy “Dianne” McCommons Boswell. Dianne passed peacefully at home on June 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted wife of 57 years to Phil Boswell, a cherished mother to Jan (Burt) and Jennifer Owen, and a beloved grandmother to Stella and Banks. With grace, humility, and quiet strength, Dianne brought warmth and steadiness to everyone around her. Much like the Jan Jones we have seen and come to love, Dianne found true joy in life’s simple pleasures. Though our hearts ache with this loss, we find comfort knowing Dianne’s love and legacy live on through the family she so deeply cherished. Please join me in surrounding our Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones, Jan, and the entire family with comfort, love, and prayers during this tender time. Please join me in lifting up Troy, our young cousin, in prayer. Troy was involved in a serious four-wheeler accident in which he was pinned beneath the vehicle. He was experiencing difficulty breathing and severe pain and was transported to Memorial Hospital. The ambulance team kept his oxygen levels and vital signs stable during transport, but when his blood pressure began to drop they diverted from Liberty Hospital to Memorial for a higher level of care. Upon arrival, additional CT scans revealed multiple rib fractures (especially along the back), a spinal fracture, and significant trauma to one kidney with no blood flow, major damage, and possible clotting. Thankfully, he has retained movement in his legs despite the back injury. He was admitted to the PICU, where the team is focused on stabilizing his overall condition before addressing the kidney issues. Troy has recently undergone emergency surgery. Doctors discovered perforations in his colon and intestines. He is currently in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator for the next 24 hours to keep him comfortable while his abdomen remains open with a drain in place to manage contamination and fluid. Small bone fragments from his spine were also identified. Latest update: Troy is very critically ill right now—much worse than before surgery. The entire team of doctors is working intensely on him. Infection and toxins from the perforation have leaked into his system, and his blood pressure is unstable. The next few hours are extremely critical. We are asking God for a miracle. Please pray: • For Troy’s complete stabilization and healing—especially that his blood pressure would come under control, the infection would be cleared, his organs would be protected and restored, and his body would respond to treatment. • For supernatural wisdom, skill, and guidance for the entire medical team caring for him. • For God’s peace and comfort to surround Claudette and the whole family in this terrifying and exhausting time. • For Troy’s lungs, kidneys, spine, and every injured area to be touched by the healing hand of Jesus. Thank you for standing with us in faith and prayer. We believe God is able, and we are trusting Him for Troy’s life and full recovery. Please continue to pray—the next few hours are vital. I returned home late this afternoon. I have been at the Georgia State Capitol following the results of the primary runoff. I have spent meaningful time with our Lieutenant Governor, Burt Jones, and have had the opportunity to engage with others during the special session. As I always do, I have also been carefully reviewing comments and direct messages across my social media platforms. What stands out to me is the widespread call for unity, along with many comments urging Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones to publicly support the Republican nominee for governor. In most situations, I would agree that the time has come to move forward together. However, I feel it is important to speak with clarity and conviction on this matter. I want to be direct and transparent: I have nothing to gain and nothing to lose by sharing my perspective. I chose to speak out because it was the right thing to do. What occurred during this cycle was not simply the criticism of a good man—it was the unfair and degrading portrayal of an entire family as part of some extreme, corrupt cabal determined to harm our state. The reality is far different. I worked extremely hard to correct this record. This is a multi-generational Georgia family whose members have worked tirelessly and built something meaningful from the ground up through honest effort and dedication. I respectfully ask those who assume that long service in public office automatically makes someone corrupt or unworthy to pause and reconsider. Not every public servant who has served for many years is flawed or self-serving. There are dedicated leaders—like Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones—who serve with genuine care for the people of Georgia. Lieutenant Governor Jones could have chosen a far easier and more private path in life. Instead, he chose to stand up and fight for what he believes is right, just as he did in 2020 when he stood firmly against significant challenges, including a well-funded effort to unseat him. He represents one of the most principled conservative voices of our time. To those who are calling for immediate unity: true unity requires grace. Grace means giving people the time and space they need to thoughtfully process what has just happened. What we witnessed was a radical outsider with extreme motives who entered the Republican primary and engaged in tactics designed to unfairly attack and discredit a highly respected Georgia family. If you believe that approach—including the level of falsehoods, personal attacks, and negativity we saw—is acceptable, I ask that you please unfollow me. I will now block accounts that promote or celebrate such conduct, as it is inconsistent with the values I was raised with and continue to uphold. The defamation and divisiveness that took place in Georgia during this election cycle were truly unprecedented. If someone believes that now is the time for unity without first acknowledging and addressing these issues, I encourage honest reflection. Failing to stand for what is right only deepens the very problems we seek to overcome.
