Arizona has officially become the first state in the nation to allow residents to use digital birth certificates for Motor Vehicle Division services.
Arizona-born residents can now access what officials call a “digital birth credential” through a smartphone app and use it for identity verification at MVD offices. The program began as a pilot in 2025 and has now expanded statewide.
A birth certificate is one of the foundational documents establishing a person’s legal identity.
We have now entered an era where even that document is being transformed into a digital credential carried on a smartphone.
Supporters will point to convenience, accessibility, security, and helping people who have lost access to physical documents—and those are legitimate benefits.
But Christians watching the rapid digitization of society should also recognize the larger trajectory.
We are witnessing money, identification, health records, travel credentials, banking, and now foundational identity documents increasingly moving into interconnected digital systems.

| 16 | Why do those in the Charismatic world continue to equate a celebrity death or cultural event as prophetic for the church or nation?
Why is there an insistence that certain cultural moments become a prophetic code that needs to be deciphered?
This is not practicing New Testament prophecy. We are creating a Christianized form of omen interpretation. At worst, it's borderline divination (observing events and attempting to extract hidden supernatural information from them).
With Dolly Parton's passing, I am already seeing attempts to assign prophetic significance to her death. And yes, I believe the Holy Spirit still speaks. I believe the Church should earnestly desire spiritual gifts.
I believe prophecy must be protected from speculation masquerading as revelation. Dolly Parton’s death does not mean Joseph’s coat has fallen on the Church.
It does not announce a coming revival, judgment on America, a new sound coming to Appalachia, or signify a prophetic mantle changing hands or establish a new spiritual season.
NT prophecy is meant to bear witness to Jesus His person, His kingdom, His finished work, His present reign, and His coming glory and to mature the saints towards the beatific vision. NT prophecy is Christological.
The goal is not becoming more skilled at decoding mysterious signs. It is becoming increasingly conformed to Christ as we behold Him. When a person dies, there are family members, friends, colleagues, and countless people grieving the loss.
The Christian response should not be to immediately turn someone’s death into prophetic material. There is a time to mourn, a time to comfort, and a time to simply be present with those who are grieving.
Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you, filling you with vain hopes. They speak visions of their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD.” Jeremiah 23:16
