| 4 | Israel Subjecting Russian Historian to ‘Brutal Interrogation’ — Lawyer
Russian historian and archaeologist Alexey Kalyonov, who disappeared after arriving in Israel earlier this month, is being held in an Israeli prison and subjected to “brutal interrogations,” according to his lawyer, Dmitry Agranovsky.
Agranovsky told Russian media that Kalyonov is accused of “spying for Iran,” but said no formal charges have been filed and denied the allegations. Kalyonov reportedly traveled to Israel on August 4 and subsequently stopped communicating with his family.
The claims about his treatment come from his attorney and Russian reporting and have not been independently verified. Israeli authorities have not publicly detailed the case or confirmed the alleged interrogation methods.
GhostofBasedPatrickHenry: This is a follow-up to a previous story that we had covered, where this Russian historian had been allegedly kidnapped by Israeli authorities as soon as his plane landed in Tel Aviv.
So it turns out that this guy is an Israeli citizen who once served in the IDF. The reason he was most likely kidnapped and is now being tortured is because he is a very well researched dissident to the Israeli government.
Kirpichenok recently published a book that explains that Israeli society—which was originally founded by Labor Zionists (communists)—has shifted more toward the Talmudic influence of the religious community since the waning of the Labor Zionist movement over the last 30+ years. In order to build up its population, Israel has been forced to allow in Jews from around the world, and the original Ashkenazi from Eastern Europe who first colonized Palestine do not see all of these racial/ethnic groups within the Jewish community as equal.
Kirpichenok says that there is a caste system in Israel that is very real and well known among the citizenry, which Jews from North Africa and Ethiopia are treated like outsiders, and even new-generation Russian Jews are treated as second-class citizens.
When you couple this political shift with the collapse in literacy and education—which are also due to the rise of the Ultra-Orthodox religious zealots, who do not value traditional education and thus do not teach their children English or often even mathematics—you begin to see the contours of what appears to be an existential crisis that Israel now faces.
As Kirpichenok explains in his book, the hyper-militarization of Israeli society has cultivated an aggressive attitude toward neighboring cultures. It has also used jingoism and the cohesive bonds inherent in military life to mask the deep and festering social issues surrounding this unspoken racial caste system.
Thus, the Zionist State of Israel has become completely dependent on forever wars and mass conscription to force its society (a collection of cultures from around the world) to blend together and focus on survival, rather than deal with the underlying problems.
Meaning that war is good for social cohesion and political hegemony so long as the wars continue and the threats presented by the various boogey men continue to haunt the nightmares of the Israeli citizenry.
