Important Message - Requires Urgent Action
Regarding Program Preference Submission
Please be informed that due to technical difficulties, program preferences submitted between July 28 and August 4, 2026, will not be considered for the placement process.
Therefore, all students, including government‑sponsored students and those who are self‑sponsored without assigned programs, are required to re‑submit their program preferences. The portal will remain open for re‑submission from August 4 to August 6, 2026.
👉👉Please note that you must re‑submit your program preference by following the steps below:
1. Log in to your portal account at: https://portal.aau.edu.et/
2. Click on the Admissions tab and select Placement.
3. You will see a list of disciplines available under each college and institute.
4. Rank your preferred disciplines/programs by assigning numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.) in the preference form.
5. Ensure that you enter the correct number for each program before clicking Submit.
Deadline for Re‑submission:
The portal will be open for re‑submission from August 4 to August 6, 2026. After this date, the portal will be closed, and no further submissions will be accepted.

| 4 | Notice to Students on Program Placement - Privileges
Dear Students,
This Notice is to inform applicants who wish to claim program placement based on staff privilege, disability, or origin from less developed regions that they must submit the required evidence within the application deadline. Requests with incomplete documentation will not be considered.
A. Spouse/Child of Full-Time Academic Staff (AAU)
As per Article 29.4 of the AAU Senate Legislation, spouses and children of full-time academic staff members who have served the University for at least three years are entitled to placement in the undergraduate program of their choice, provided they meet program requirements.
Applicants using this privilege must submit the following:
1. A letter from the HR Department of AAU confirming that the parent is a full-time academic staff member.
2. If the staff member is the mother, a birth certificate must be attached to verify the relationship.
3. A copy of the parent’s AAU Staff ID card.
⚠️ Applications missing any of the above documents will not be processed.
📌 Supporting Documents for Staff privilege (A) – Hardcopy documents must be submitted to the Pre-Engineering Office, NB 205B, 2nd floor.
B. Applicants with Disabilities
Students claiming placement privileges based on disability must submit official supporting documents verifying their condition.

C. Applicants from Less Developed Regions
The following regions are considered less developed:

Required evidences include:
Proof of residence
Birth certificate
Grade 8 and Grade 12 certificates

For privilege cases C and D, verification of supporting Documents will be conducted using the Registrar Office’s official records.

Important Message – Online Make‑Up Examination Schedule (June 25, 2026)
To Pre‑Engineering students and other CTBE students who missed the online final exam and applied for a make‑up exam:
A make‑up examination will be administered on June 25, 2026. Please check the attached schedule for details (your name, computer lab room or exam center).
Included courses: Inclusiveness, Global Trends, Introduction to Emerging Technologies, Moral and Civics Education, Communicative English Skills II, and other courses.
Please avail yourself according to the schedule.

To all Pre‑Engineering students and those who have added courses at the 5 Kilo/Lideta Pre‑Engineering sections and missed the final exam for valid and documented reasons:

Examination rules! – MUST READ!
1. Permitted and forbidden items
👆🏿 It is not allowed to bring mobile phones, smart watches, or any other electronic device (except scientific calculators) to exam hall. Any student caught during examination with mobile phones and smart watches either switched on or not, will be accounted for cheating.
👆🏿Mobile phones shouldn’t be used as substitute for calculators.
👆🏿Students shouldn’t wear hat and other type of clothes that hampers the invigilators inspection capacity.
👆🏿 Each student must bring his/her University ID card and keep on the chair visible to the invigilator.
👆🏿No student may be admitted into an examination hall 30 minutes after the beginning of the examination and no student may be allowed to leave an examination hall within 30 minutes of the beginning of an examination and before signing the examination attendance sheet.
👆🏿If a student is forced to leave an examination hall for health reasons, and in so far as the student is in a conscious and sound state of mind, the invigilator in attendance shall inform him of the fact that certification from a medical doctor must be obtained expeditiously to substantiate the claim of sickness or illness.
2. Violation of examination regulations in an examination room
👆🏿 Copying from pieces of paper or any other source of information brought into an examination hall where such material is not specifically permitted.
👆🏿Working on or being found in possession of examination papers other than one’s own.
👆🏿Exchanging information in the examination hall in oral, symbolic, written or any other means, such as mobile phones where these are not specifically permitted.
👆🏿Making use of someone else’s work, or parts thereof, without acknowledging the same and with deliberate intent to represent such material as one’s own.
👆🏿Sitting for an examination in a module/course for which one has not been registered.
👆🏿Taking an examination by proxy, i.e., through another party.
👆🏿Disorderly conduct in an examination hall, including refusal to accept and abide by instructions given by the invigilator.
👆🏿Being caught in the act of avoiding signing attendance sheets in an examination or trying to leave examination halls without submitting answer sheets in ways that could lead to claiming absence from the hall.
👆🏿Engaging in any other act that is deemed inappropriate to the smooth and fair conduct of the examination.
Online Exam related
👆🏿No student is allowed to take the scratch papers with him/her from the computer lab rooms.
👆🏿Students must sign the portal out before they leave the computer.
3. Penalty if a student commits an act of academic dishonesty
👆🏿He /she shall be suspended for a minimum of one academic year.
