"Sometimes the way to achieve something is not through pushing forward, but through stepping back.”
Lillian Parker is a rising star at Shen Yun Performing Arts. She started touring with the company when she was only a teenager, as part of a special practicum training program for promising young students.
As Shen Yun's artists prepare to head off on their 2025 world tour, we had the pleasure of sitting down with her for a deeper dive into her journey, what she's learned along the way, and what it takes to be a Shen Yun dancer.
At the Epoch Times, we've been proud sponsors of Shen Yun, which showcases a China before the ravages of communism.

It’s one thing to work hard at something for a day or a month or a year, but to be able to tirelessly persist for a decade or more—that’s the true test of devotion, says Lillian Parker, a rising star at Shen Yun Performing Arts and one of the companies few non-Chinese dancers.
She started learning classical Chinese dance when she was 4 or 5, and joined Shen Yun as a teenager as part of a special practicum training program for promising young dancers.
As Shen Yun’s artists prepare to head off on their 2025 world tour, I had the pleasure of doing a deeper dive with Lillian to learn about how her experience training and touring with Shen Yun over the last 7 years has shaped her.

"Israel didn't conquer the West Bank from the Palestinians. Palestinians have never had a state in their entire history. Israel conquered the land from Jordan, which no one recognized [its] entitlement to be there."
David M. Friedman is the former U.S. Ambassador to Israel under the previous Trump Administration and one of the chief architects of the Abraham Accords. He is the author of "One Jewish State."

"It's safe to say, especially in comparison [to] the Biden-Harris administration's level of interior deportations, that there will be a very, very sharp increase in those deportations in the very near future,” says Todd Bensman.
“There will be a need to go to the legislature to fix that asylum law - to make it so that if you've come through 10 different countries that were regarded as safe, and didn't apply for asylum there in those countries, then you didn't really need asylum. And therefore, you can't claim it. You can't shop for the best country. Asylum is for people that are in desperate straits and just need safety right now.”

"We just had, a couple of weeks ago, our first terror attack by a border crossing migrant in Chicago."
A Mauritanian (a country of terrorism concern), shot and grievously wounded a Jewish man. He also opened fire on police, and a gun battle ensued.
"He is now charged with terrorism in Chicago, and hate crimes as well. I think that case right there is a harbinger of others like it to come, and that's sort-of what we're facing,” says The Center for Immigration Studies' Todd Bensman.

"Throughout the pandemic, it's been very difficult to organize discussions and debates between people who had an alternate view…So this conference we just held at Stanford in October 2024, it's four years late, but still, nevertheless, quite an accomplishment.
I think it was the first major university that hosted a large conference where people who disagreed about the pandemic policy were sitting in the same room, talking to each other in a civil way."

…North Korea has become an increasingly important member of the axis of tyranny [with] Russia, China, Iran,” says Greg Scarlatoiu, President of the Committee on Human Rights in North Korea.

“This is a money-making operation…Kim Jong Un is making a lot of cold hard cash out of the war in Ukraine.”
North Korea has a long history of involvement in foreign conflicts, says Greg Scarlatoiu, President of the Committee on Human Rights in North Korea. Now Kim Jong Un is sending his best soldiers to join the Russian war effort.

"The [Canadian] Parliament passed a law that said people can ask to be euthanized and doctors can lethally inject them - commit homicide, but legally - if death was 'reasonably foreseeable,' which is a hugely open definition.
Well, the euthanasia activists don't want it to be limited to people where death is reasonably foreseeable.
Lawsuits were filed again, and today in Canada, you can have euthanasia if you're terminally ill, if you're chronically ill, if you have a disability, if you're an elderly person who says they're suffering based on, let's say, debilitation as such that you don't want to live.” - Wesley J. Smith

Can the incoming administration fix the #economy fast?
"On the campaign trail, everybody says ‘we're going to bring the prices down.’ There isn't a mechanism that the President of the United States has to do that."
In this episode, we sit down with Jeffrey Tucker, Founder and President of Brownstone Institute.
A columnist for Epoch Times, he has been covering the economy and trying to reconcile the current numbers and models with the financial realities that everyday Americans experience.

"Interestingly, in 2022, we had two declining quarters of real fall in GDP, adjusted for inflation. It was not called a ‘recession’, even though the textbook definition of recession was two successive quarters of declining GDP…They said, ‘Well, that's not a recession because the jobs are looking so good.’ Well, after this period, the jobs numbers were revised. And people began to look at the jobs numbers a little more carefully.” - Jeffrey Tucker

"We found more than a dozen border gaps identified in this network, and the majority of these border gaps were in California, but there were also crossing points in Arizona and New Mexico. Texas was sort of regarded as being just so easy to cross, so wide open in certain places that having a specific guide wasn't even really required."
Daily Caller investigative reporter Philip Lenczycki breaks down what he found in an online network facilitating illegal Chinese immigration. It was a hub for travel guides, border crossing points, and even scripts for what to say to Border Patrol.

“The underpinning issue is the splitting of the individual and the fragmentation of society.
That is the root cause that enables a lot of this darkness to creep in: the isolation of the individual away from society.
And people have a fundamental drive, a desire to be associated with something larger than themselves. It's just a core aspect of human psychology.
And so, they can resolve that by the release that comes from a central authoritarian structure that says that ‘we will solve your pain, and here's the solution. You just need to ally yourselves with our movement.’
But you can also resolve that by recommitting to family, to community - if you're a person of faith, to your religious community.” - Dr. Robert Malone

“I think it's expanded the range of things that are allowed to be said in polite society…The purpose…was to essentially open the floodgates of these kinds of events taking place everywhere around the world." - Dr. Jay Bhattacharya
The recent Pandemic Planning conference at Stanford was really the first of its kind, bringing together a wide range of voices on the topic in an academic setting. And it was held under the auspices of the new Stanford President.
Are we beginning to see a return to more open inquiry in academia?

"TikTok is a weapon of the CCP designed to shape how Americans think, as well as steal a tremendous amount of personal data on individual Americans.
The idea [that it’s a] 'ban' is kind of ridiculous…the Chinese company that owns and controls TikTok just has to give up control, and then Tiktok would be allowed.
But the Chinese Communist Party does not want to give up control, particularly because if they did, then whatever American company bought it would have access to the inside of Tiktok, to the algorithm, and actually get to see what really was going on behind the scenes."

“People will say to me, ‘Surely we're not going to lock down again.’ But there is a new pandemic strategy that's come out of COVID. It's called the 100-day mission. And this is signed by the G7 and G20, and so supported by the scientific community in North America and Europe. And the idea is, next time we have a pandemic, we lock down for 100 days and we have a vaccine that's ready for mass immunization at 100 days. That's an incredible period of time to do safety studies. They're going to have to reevaluate the way that RCTs and safety signals are understood to do that. And then, something that's not stated explicitly is how do you get people to take that? Well, you're going to probably rely on the digital infrastructure that we saw with digital IDs and certificates. And so, I think that we have this - I call it a lockdown doctrine - that's been developed out of the pandemic, and it is our default position.” - Kevin Bardosh

"The whole popular culture approach and the whole media approach is to push toward greater expansion of assisted suicide euthanasia."
Chair of the Discovery Institute Center on Human Exceptionalism, Wesley J. Smith says westerners who are not terminally ill are increasingly requesting to be euthanized. He argues that through government expansion of medically-assisted suicide programs, countries such as Canada are establishing a business of authorized "private killing."

"When a country or a state legalizes assisted-suicide or euthanasia, it can no longer call itself anti-suicide, because it specifically approves some suicides.
And it's a very dangerous movement that is normalizing this kind of approach to dying."
In this episode, Wesley J. Smith dives into the expansion of euthanasia, also known as medically-assisted suicide, in Canada and beyond. He says the Western media, as well as popular culture, have contributed to its rise.
