The greatest threat to Taiwan isn’t the Chinese military, says Taiwanese legislator Wang Ting-yu. Instead, it’s CCP cognitive warfare. It erodes public trust, inflames tensions, and makes Taiwanese people treat each other as enemies. Every day Taiwan faces an onslaught of disinformation planted by Beijing in their media ecosystem. There’s a lot we can learn from Taiwan’s defensive strategy. Here’s just one example: the CCP spread a rumor that Taiwan ran out of toilet paper during Covid. In response, Taiwan’s government used humor to dispel the tension. “How many buttocks do you have?
