| 3 | Today's new on X, seems like Kalshi has been in hot waters lately mostly about faking trading volume on their perps.. $539m daily trading volume vs $3.1m open positions.
That also means that the same amount of money would basically need to be traded over and over again extremely quickly throughout the day and looks extremely suspicious
The other controversy is because Jump Trading which is a major market maker, reportedly has a deal where it provides liquidity to Kalshi in exchange for equity.
But the thing here that nothing is confirmed or concrete that there is any wash trading going on. The thread is pointing out suspicious looking numbers and incentives, not a confirmed fraud case.
TL;DR: Kalshi says huge trading volume. Critics say the actual amount of money sitting in these markets looks way too small for that volume, so something doesn’t add up.

Another day, another memecoin launched and crashed. Apparently this time by Hunter Biden called LAPTOP which literally pumped and dumped in MINUTES. Many people got caught and lost a lot of money in less than 1 hour here. | 103 |

If you add up all the winners... that's roughly only 5% of the users, with 500 making more than $1k.
I remember mentioning how I don't really chase memecoins and this is really the reason why. Seeing such statistics over and over (yes, this isn't the first), memecoins are really just gambling at its finest.

| 10 | In today's big news, Tectonic was exploited for over $74M on the Cronos chain, which is more than half the Chain's Total Value Locked (TVL).
In response, Cronos paused the chained before the hacker could take off with most of the earnings, bridging out only ~$6M to Ethereum while the rest is still stuck on Cronos with the funds frozen.
Crazy stuff we're seeing as another protocol got exploited due to illiquidity. The summary was that the protocol had its own token TONIC which was pumped and inflated over 100x, then used as collateral to borrow real assets such as ETH, CRO, USDC. TONIC then dumped afterwards.
Also discussions of 'decentralization' was also brought up again.. but either way, we'll see what happens next.

Not all solutions are foolproof, cold wallet, hot wallet, or keeping your funds in exchange. Ever since 2022 with the collapse of many crypto firms like FTX, diversification of your funds are the only way to truly protect yourself.
Never store all your funds at one place. Even cold wallets like in this case is vulnerable to bugs, so considering diversifying to different cold wallets over different brands if possible too. | 201 |
| 15 | So if you've been seeing the news about Coldcard and the Bitcoin hack, let me just explain briefly what happened.
If not, let me get you up to speed: Recently, a serious flaw was found in Coldcard hardware wallets, and around US$89 million worth of Bitcoin has reportedly been stolen so far.
What happened exactly?
Some Coldcard devices accidentally created recovery phrases using weak randomness. This made certain seed phrases predictable enough for hackers to guess with powerful computers. This means the hackers did not need to:
- Steal or touch the Coldcard
- Know the device PIN
- Infect the owner’s computer
- See the recovery phrase
They could recreate possible seed phrases, check which ones contained Bitcoin and transfer the funds. Potentially affected devices include the Coldcard Mk2, Mk3, Mk4, Mk5 and Q but it depends on the firmware used when the seed phrase was originally created.
If you created your seed phrase using the firmware during a certain timing (Around 2021), your wallet is vulnerable to this. To note that even updating firmware is not enough and you need to create a new seed phrase/wallet after updating.
If you're using Coldcard then here's what to do:
1) Update to the latest official firmware.
2) Generate a completely new seed phrase.
3) Verify and safely back up the new seed.
4) Send a small test transaction.
5) Move the remaining Bitcoin to the new wallet.
6) Never enter your seed phrase into a website or “Coldcard checker.” Scammers will likely use this incident to steal more wallets.
If you don’t use a Coldcard-generated seed, you are not affected by this particular vulnerability.

| 16 |  So I didn't exactly wrote about this but Robinhood (yes, the investing platform) has launched a new layer 2 chain recently at the beginning of the month.
So what happened so far? Basically a memecoin that exploded and rose to over 200M market cap before proceeding to crash down again.
Memecoins are exploding again on the Robinhood chain, but I can guarantee most people are getting burnt again.

I think we're somewhere between Anger and Depression, and we may last a few weeks, or a few months. Who knows?
