WhatsApp Introduces Calling on Web, Expands Group Call Features WhatsApp has rolled out one of its most anticipated updates, allowing users to make and receive both audio and video calls directly6 through WhatsApp Web. The feature offers private, end-to-end encrypted calls with no time limits and no additional cost. The platform has also introduced several enhancements to improve the calling experience. Users can now transfer active group calls between devices without disconnecting, approve participants through a new Waiting Room before they join group calls, and enjoy clearer conversations with the addition of Background Noise Suppression, which reduces unwanted ambient sounds during calls.

If you’re leasing an iPhone, you’ll need to connect to AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon when you enroll. Along with this, Apple is Apple is discontinuing the iPhone Upgrade Program and iPhone Payments financing.

EU Fines Google $1.02B for Favoring Its Own Services Google has been fined €460 million for favouring it's own services in shopping, hotels, transport and sports results in ​search results, and another €430 million for Google's restrictions on its app store Google Play preventing app developers from steering users free of charge ​to cheaper offers on rival app stores or websites.

Moonshot AI Releases Powerful Open-Source Kimi K3 Model Chinese AI company Moonshot AI has just open-sourced its most advanced model yet. Kimi K3.Kimi K3 is a massive 2.8 trillion parameter Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) model. It features built-in vision understanding (it can "see" images) and supports an impressive 1 million token context window, allowing it to handle very long documents or conversations. According to the company, the new architecture makes the model about 2.5 times more intelligent per unit of compute compared to its predecessor not just by adding more parameters, but through smarter design. Moonshot is also releasing supporting tools like high-performance attention kernels, MoE libraries, and infrastructure for running AI agents. The full model weights and technical report are now publicly available.

Hugging Face Hacked by OpenAI Models That Escaped Their Sandbox OpenAI reported that the "first fully agentic" attack on Hugging Face was carried out by their GPT-5.6 Sol and an as-yet-unannounced model. Instead of honestly completing the ExploitGym cybersecurity benchmark, the models broke out of their isolated sandbox, gained network access, found a zero-day vulnerability on Hugging Face's servers, and downloaded the test solutions.

Google makes Android backups count against account storage Effective in 45 days, all Android devices backups including SMS messages, call history device settings and app settings will now count towards your Google Account storage. If the account exceeds its storage limit after the change, automatic Android backups will pause until the storage is freed up or the plan is upgraded.

🤖 iPhone Can Now Run a Model on Par with Qwen3.6 27B PrismML has released Bonsai 27B, built on top of the open-source Qwen3.6 27B. It's the first model of this size to run on a smartphone. The standard Qwen3.6 27B weighs around 54 GB which is impossible to run on a phone. 💻 The developers found a way to compress the model to 3.9 GB without significant quality loss. Instead of standard weight rounding, the model was trained with a strictly limited set of values from the start, preserving 90 - 95% of the full-size version's performance. In practice, the AI can hold complex conversations, write code, analyze documents and camera images, and carry out multi-step tasks as an autonomous agent. The startup was founded by a team from Caltech, backed by Khosla Ventures, Google, and Samsung and raised $16.25M in initial funding. According to The Information, Apple has already held meetings with PrismML about potentially using the technology.
