Bitget Halts Withdrawals After Unauthorized Transfers Crypto exchange Bitget has temporarily stopped withdrawals after detecting unauthorized transfers of about $351.6 million from some of its hot and warm wallets. CEO Gracy Chen said

User funds are safe and the loss is covered by the exchange’s User Protection Fund, which holds more than $464 million. Cold wallets remain secure.

Deposits and trading are still operating while the company investigates.

Hacking Group Claims It Broke Into FBI Systems The cybercrime group ShinyHunters says it breached FBI systems and stole personal data on agents and job applicants. The group claims it used a flaw in Oracle PeopleSoft software to reach the FBI’s jobs portal and other systems, downloading names, addresses, phone numbers, and family details. It also says it briefly took over the FBI jobs website. A sample of the data was verified against public records by reporters. The FBI has not confirmed the breach. Read More Here

Both are cheaper than their GPT-5.6 versions, with Sol at $2 per million input tokens and Luna at $0.10. The feature is rolling out gradually through the latest iOS beta and is still limited to some users and countries.

Meta’s Muse Mac App Can Be Hijacked by Local Malware A security researcher has found a local vulnerability in Meta’s Muse Mac app. Any process running on the same Mac can redirect the app’s dictation traffic to an attacker’s server. This can expose what the user says to Muse and potentially steal authentication tokens. An attacker who gets those tokens could then control the assistant with the same permissions the user has already given it; files, microphone, calendar, messages, and more. The flaw is not remote. It only works if malware is already on the machine or if a user is tricked into running a malicious command. Meta has not confirmed a fix yet.

GPT-6 Astra Helps Crack 108-Year-Old German Radio Cipher A researcher used OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra to solve a German military radio message from 1918 that no one had been able to read for more than a century. The message used the German Army’s ADFGVX cipher. The model identified the key “TRUPPENVERSCHIEBUNG” and produced a coherent German text reporting an English cruiser arriving at Sevastopol, followed by an Allied squadron. Contemporary naval records, including logs from HMS Canterbury, matched the decoded content.

Google’s Gemini Accessed Three Companies During Cybersecurity Tests The tests used a fictional company that shared a name with a real one. The test environment was not supposed to have internet access, but connectivity was left available by mistake. Once online, Gemini treated the real company as its target. In one case it guessed passwords; in the others it found credentials in public code repositories. Google said the model recognized it had reached real infrastructure and stopped on its own. No harm was done to the affected organizations.

Researchers Used Claude to Reach OpenAI’s Internal GitHub White-hat researchers from Hacktron AI used Claude Opus 4.8 and Opus 5 to exploit a vulnerability in OpenAI’s community forum software. They gained access to employee ChatGPT and Codex accounts and reached OpenAI’s internal GitHub monorepo. To prove the access without reading sensitive code, they submitted a harmless pull request. The team reported the issue through OpenAI’s bug bounty program and received $6,500 after the problems were fixed.

Indian Police to Question Google Over 500,000 Fake Gmail Accounts Used in Bomb Threats Police in Gujarat, India, plan to question Google after uncovering more than 500,000 Gmail IDs and passwords tied to a criminal network that sent hoax bomb threats to government offices since 2022. Officers arrested two suspects and recovered 513,847 account credentials. The network was used to send inter-state threat emails, including messages targeting Gujarat offices just before the recent BRICS summit. Investigators say many of the fake accounts even had two-factor authentication enabled. Police intend to ask Google for stronger safeguards so such large-scale account creation and misuse cannot be easily bypassed.

OpenAI Models Top Anthropic on OpenRouter for First Time in Years Users on OpenRouter spent more on OpenAI’s models than on Anthropic’s during the week of September 7. It is the first time this has happened since the week of February 26, 2024, more than two and a half years. Developers point to recent price cuts on OpenAI endpoints, changes in default routing, and cost differences across task types as possible reasons for the shift.
