Chemical engineer and exposure expert, Stephen Petty has been a bold voice for the people in E. Palestine and has donated his time and expertise to helping OAMF write the environmental provisions in HB 983 (Data Center Accountability & Citizen Protection Act) as well as being our expert witness testifying on water contamination concerns to the Ohio Select Committee on Data Centers.
On Aug. 29th Stephen submitted expert testimony to the Ohio Power Siting Board regarding the proposed Ashville, OH hyperscale data center with gas power facility and his concerns of potential water contamination of Ashville water supply and the Teays Valley aquifer.

Glad to see that Scott Smith, an independent scientist who worked with Stephen Petty in E. Palestine, is headed to Toledo this weekend to AGAIN stand with the people of Ohio.
“An independent scientist will test for chemical contamination in south Toledo this Saturday following a deadly industrial explosion and fire earlier this month.”
“Three Pines Production Company LLC announced Friday that scientist Scott Smith will test soil, water, and air around the Brent Industries plant and nearby neighborhoods on Saturday, Aug. 29.” | 176 |

“Vivek Ramaswamy says he is heading back to East Palestine, Ohio, after NewsNation exclusively reported that class action attorneys withheld their own expert’s alarming soil test results from the residents they represented.”
“The attorneys hid that intentionally from the members and families,” Ramaswamy said. “I understand why people are pissed. This is not how the system is supposed to work.”
“Ramaswamy said he plans to return to East Palestine in response to the reporting.”
“Petty said the data demands a response.”
“You have to do further analysis to see what needs to be done from a remediation standpoint,” he said. “We can’t just walk away from those results. There is a problem there.”
“An Ohio advocacy group has filed a public records request with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency demanding the release of three documents connected to Petty.”
“Ohio Advocates for Medical Freedom, a statewide advocacy organization, submitted the request Tuesday, invoking Ohio law to compel the state EPA to turn over Petty’s expert reports and a deposition transcript the agency has held since July but has not made public.”
“The citizens of East Palestine deserve to have the facts surrounding the chemical testing results from the train derailment that devastated their community,” OAMF President Stephanie Stock wrote in a letter to Ohio EPA Director Logue.”
“The three documents sought are Petty’s expert report dated April 6, 2026; his rebuttal expert report dated May 29, 2026; and a deposition transcript from June 23, 2026. According to the letter, all three were submitted to the Ohio EPA around July 2026 by an attorney identified as Jon Collins.”

Please take note that Steve Stivers and the Ohio Chamber of Commerce have opposed every medical freedom bill we have ever had introduced, including this one.
The chamber emailed House members early this summer essentially telling them that if they VOTED to REMOVE TAX ABATEMENTS that would affect their scoring for future endorsements.
The Chamber of Commerce is an enemy to the people of Ohio. They lobby for Data centers to run completely unregulated, and for your employer to be able to force vaccinate you or fire you. | 320 |

For the last 7 years we have pressed our Republican majority legislature to PASS school vaccine exemption transparency law but House & Senate leadership have refused.

“Residents should get a greater say in determining if data centers can be built in their community, a lawmaker and medical freedom group contend.”
“Rep. Jennifer Gross, R-West Chester, sees her recently filed proposal with Rep. Michelle Teska, R-Centerville, as a way to ensure that voice is heard.”
“Under the bill, in order to construct a new data center or expand an existing one, the project must be approved by voters in municipalities 5 miles away from the project area (HB 983.)”
“I think it's more balanced to say, ‘Let's give communities and the people a voice,’” she said in an interview. “Or the people are going to come back and say, ‘Then forget it, it's a complete moratorium,’ and I don't think that's a win-win.”
“Gross is working with Ohio Advocates for Medical Freedom, which wrote the language.”
“OAMF President Stephanie Stock said the plan also creates penalties for data centers that exceed discharge or emissions limits and bars any emergency order, administrative action or development agreement from preventing the public vote.
Stock, who was defeated in the primary election in her bid to join the House, previously called on lawmakers to bar data centers from using water cooling and require such projects to be approved at the ballot by voters living within a 5-mile radius of a proposed facility.”
“Unfortunately, many of the elected officials are taking matters into their own hands, and they are not actually listening to the citizens,” Stock said in an interview. “That's why getting citizen approval first, we believe, is an important pathway forward to ensure that every local citizen, in fact, is being heard.”
“Gross emphasized that protections are needed to make sure that “we're not putting things into our water that could be harming the people drinking the water.”
“If it's approved by the EPA, and the EPA says they're following standards, I'm OK with that,” she said. “The challenge is that if they're adding new things into the water that the EPA never tested for like forever chemicals, like PFAS, like glyphosate.”
“If those things are not already removed, and even if they are, if they're adding more to the system and it's overwhelming our water processing, then we need to work with our water processing plants and be sure that they can handle it.”
“Gross said she hopes the Legislature will also pick up HB983 in November, but added she does not expect the bill to advance this GA given the relatively small window of time left to move new legislation.”
