M+ Global Market Update – 03Jul26 Market Sentiment Expected to Stay Flat Over Holiday US: Given that June's economic data such as non-farm payrolls, the unemployment rate, and initial jobless claims, all came in weaker-than-expected, thereby easing the Fed's rate-hike concerns, we expect Wall Street to trade with a slightly positive tone. Meanwhile, Wall Street will be closed today in observance of Independence Day. Stock-wise, Reddit (RDDT) staged a decisive breakout above its MA200, underpinned by (i) expanding high-margin AI data-licensing deals, (ii) accelerating ad revenue driven by its new automated advertising platform, and (iii) blowout quarterly earnings that comfortably exceeded Wall Street expectations. Lastly, we like FTAI Aviation (FTAI) due to robust global demand for its aircraft engine maintenance services, alongside its strategic expansion into AI data centre power generation. MY: As Wall Street is closed today, we anticipate that trading volume on the local bourse will remain muted. Meanwhile, with the weakness in crude oil, which has hit the USD71 per barrel level, expected to ease inflationary pressures, market sentiment will continue to bode well for the Consumer sector, benefitting stocks such as 99SMART, MRDIY, and ECOSHOP. Also, we continue to favour the Plantation sector given the ongoing El Niño weather conditions, looking kindly upon companies such as KLK, UTDPLT, and JPG.
