Alhamdulillah - what a beautiful night at Masjid Ahlul Qur'aan wa Sunnah, in Queens NYC. Summary of last night's event: Graduation for The Summer of Surah al-Baqarah Program. 1. We began the evening with answers from our Mashaykh regarding the validity of reciting Surah al-Baqarah in a gathering. We also asked our beloved Shaykh Waseeullah Abbas حفظه الله about the practice of starting gatherings with Qur’anic recitals. 2. Our noble Imam Shameer, Teacher Hudhayfah, and the students from the program then recited Surah al-Baqarah. 3. After that, we shared advice from a well-known Qari, Dr. Rashid al-Hulaybah حفظه الله, along with a video recap of the program for our students. 4. We then officially started the Graduation Ceremony for our Summer with Surah al-Baqarah. Close to 80 students received certificates for attending the program throughout the summer. 5. We then recognized 16 outstanding students by awarding them cash prizes in appreciation of their exceptional efforts. 6. Finally, the grand prize of Umrah was gifted to not one, but two remarkable students: A. A sister who memorized Surah al-Baqarah in its entirety during this program. B. A brother who attended all 3 sessions (Arabic, Tafsir, and Memorization) - every single day - for 50 days, missing only one day due to illness. May Allah accept these efforts.
