🔴 [The Creed of Ahlus-Sunnah Is One Throughout the Different Eras] 📌 Shaykh Ṣāliḥ ibn ʿAbdil-ʿAzīz as-Sindī (may Allah preserve him) said: "It is important for the student of knowledge to pay attention to something when studying the works of the early scholars. This treatise was written by Abū ʿUthmān aṣ-Ṣābūnī, who—as you heard—was born in 373 AH and died in 449 AH. Thus, he was one of the early scholars. This is one of the early books on the creed of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah. Some of you—or perhaps many of you—have attended our previous lessons on the books of Shaykhul-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him), such as at-Tadmuriyyah, al-Wāsiṭiyyah, and al-ʿUbūdiyyah. More recently, we have also studied a treatise written by a contemporary Imām, Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymīn (may Allah have mercy on him), entitled The Creed of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah. Before that, we studied Al-Qawāʿidul-Muthlā, and also Aʿlāmus-Sunnah al-Manshūrah by Shaykh Ḥāfiẓ al-Ḥakamī (may Allah have mercy on him). I want you to compare these works. Do you find any difference between them? Is it true, as the enemies of this creed claim, that this creed is 'Taymiyyah's creed'—something invented by Ibn Taymiyyah? Here is this treatise, whose author died more than two hundred years before Shaykhul-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah was even born. Compare what it contains with what Shaykhul-Islām affirmed in his books. Do you find any difference? The answer is: No. This treatise was authored by someone who died in 449 AH. Place beside it a book by Shaykhul-Islām, who died in 728 AH. Then place beside them the book of Ibn ʿUthaymīn (may Allah have mercy on him), who died in 1421 AH. Compare these treatises, and you will find no difference. It is one and the same creed, consistently upheld by all the Imāms of Ahlus-Sunnah. What the later scholars affirm is exactly what the earlier scholars affirmed, and what the earlier scholars affirmed is precisely what the later scholars affirm. There is no difference. Is there any clearer proof of the truth than this? This is a creed derived from the Qur'an and the Sunnah: 'Had it been from anyone other than Allah, they would surely have found within it many contradictions.' (Qur'an 4:82) Compare this with the creeds of those who oppose Ahlus-Sunnah. Look at the schools of the speculative theologians (mutakallimūn) and compare the statements of their leading figures. You will find great differences and vast discrepancies between what one says and what another says. Indeed, you will even find contradictions between the earlier and later writings of the same individual. You will not find this in the books of creed written by Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah. Reality itself is the greatest witness—a witness that does not lie. As we continue, Allah willing, you will encounter even more that confirms these meanings." Among the nice things mentioned is that a man asked Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, about the prayer in Mina - meaning: why was it shortened? - He said to him: "Have you heard of Muhammad ﷺ?!". The man said: Yes, and I believed in him. He said: "For he used to pray two rak'ahs in Mina" [Musnad Ahmad 5240]. This is how submission and following should be; it is enough for you to know that the Prophet ﷺ used to do such and such; and you have no choice then but to do as he did. https://t.me/saalihsindi https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VbD5OsZH5JM0pjH4H20s

🔴 Holding the Correct Creed Is One of the Greatest Means of Attaining Reward 📌 Shaykh Ṣāliḥ ibn ʿAbdil-ʿAzīz as-Sindī (may Allah preserve him) said: "Some people do not pay attention to this matter when it comes to studying the creed (ʿaqīdah) and believing in it. They overlook the fact that it is one of the greatest doors to attaining reward. This is what Aṣ-Ṣābūnī (may Allah have mercy on him) pointed to when he said: 'وأفضَوْا إلى ما قدَّموه من ثواب اعتقادهم لها، واستمساكهم بها، وإرشاد العباد إليها، وحملهم إياهم عليها They have gone on to what they had sent ahead of the reward for believing in it, holding firmly to it, guiding the servants to it, and encouraging them to adhere to it.' There is no doubt that this is among the greatest causes of earning reward. Therefore, whenever you come across a verse in the Book of Allah or a hadith from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that mentions the reward of faith, know that the fullness of this reward is attained only by the one who holds the correct belief. Whenever you read: {Indeed, those who have believed...} you should bear in mind that this īmān (faith) refers to complete and true faith—the sound creed upon which the Prophet ﷺ and his Companions were. Some people, when they read: {Indeed, those who have believed...} immediately shift their thoughts to: {...and done righteous deeds} and begin discussing whether actions are included within the definition of faith, or refuting those who disagree. This is beneficial from the perspective of knowledge. However, pay attention to the words: {Indeed, those who have believed...} Rejoice, O possessor of the correct creed! For this sound creed is true faith. Whoever attains it has attained true faith and, by the mercy and grace of Allah, will attain the reward promised for it." 🎧 Source: Explanation of "The Creed of the Salaf and the People of Hadith" by al-Ṣābūnī, Lesson One. https://t.me/saalihsindi https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VbD5OsZH5JM0pjH4H20s

🔴 A Correct Creed Must Necessarily Have an Effect on a Person's Conduct 📌 Shaykh Sālih bn 'Abdil Azīz as-Sindī (may Allah preserve him) said: "A sound and correct creed must inevitably have an effect on the behavior of the one who holds it. Creed is not something lifeless or devoid of impact. It is not a matter of, 'Believe whatever you wish, and it doesn't matter what others believe. It doesn't matter if the correct creed is attacked, nor should you care if those who oppose it spread doubts about it.' This was not the way of the righteous predecessors (may Allah have mercy on them). Rather, this is from the deception of the people of desires. Unfortunately, this mindset has even reached some who outwardly ascribe themselves to the Sunnah. They possess a dull, lifeless creed—they neither ally themselves nor disassociate themselves based upon it. They do not feel protective jealousy for the sacred limits of Allah, nor do they show zeal and enthusiasm in defending the correct creed. This is not the condition of the righteous predecessors." 📚 A BENEFIT WE ALL NEED IN OUR DAILY LIVES 🎙 Sheikh Sālih Sindī حفظه الله said: And know that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, is the One from whom benefit comes, glory be to Him, the Most High; there is no benefit from anyone unless Allah wills it. And know that if the entire Ummah (nation) were to gather together to benefit you with anything, they would not benefit you except with what Allah had already written for you. Rest; give yourself peace. All people, no matter what rank they reach, by Allah, will not benefit you with anything, not even the weight of an atom; they cannot benefit you. If Allah does not will your benefit, by Allah, you will not benefit from them in the slightest. Whether they praise you, elevate you, give to you, or commend you—all of that has no value, absolutely no value. If Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, did not will to elevate you and grant you the best reward, all these matters are worthless. Therefore, strive to ensure that in your deeds, the one who praises you and the one who disparages you are equal in your eyes. Whether they praise you or criticize you, the matter is the same, because you are not dealing with them. You are observing Allah, you are worshipping Allah, you are a servant of Allah. So your ultimate intention is towards Him. "And that to your Lord is the final goal." To whom is the final goal, O brothers? To Allah. The ultimate goal of intention, the ultimate goal of resolve, the ultimate goal of action, the ultimate goal of speech, and the ultimate goal of belief—all of that is directed to Allah. Such are the righteous allies of Allah, and such are His pious servants, and indeed, Allah only accepts from the righteous. I ask Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, to grant me and you sincerity and acceptance. O Allah, make all our deeds righteous, make them purely for Your sake, and do not let anyone else have a share in them. And Allah the Almighty knows best, and may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and all his companions. https://t.me/saalihsindi/22 https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VbD5OsZH5JM0pjH4H20s

Imām Abu Ja'far at-Tahāwi (d. 321 H. Rahimullaah) said in his 'Aqeedah: "And the most honorable of them [i.e., the believers] are the most obedient to the Qur’aan and follow it the most." Shaykh Saleh as-Sindi حفظه الله mentioned that this includes 3 things: 1. Believing in what it informs us, 2. Doing what it commands us, 3. Abstaining from what it forbids us from. 📚Sharh al-'Aqīdah at-Tahāwiyyah (Class 31) [trans. Abu Hibban Zain]

Shaykh Saleh as-Sindi said: Adhering to the Manhaj of the Salaf means 4 things: 1⃣ Taking from what they have consensus upon. 2⃣ To not exit out of their statements if they differed upon a matter. 3⃣ Being silent in that which they were silent about. 4⃣ Understand the texts and deriving (rulings) from it through their understanding and their principles. [trans. Abu Anas]

🗒️ The Methodology of Ahlus-Sunnah in Distinguishing Between One Who Errs and One Who Is an Innovator ▪️ Some overzealous individuals are excessive in labeling people as innovators (mubtadiʿah). They include among the ranks of innovators those who should neither be described with this label nor treated as innovators. ▪️ Judging others requires a great deal of knowledge, understanding, piety, and God-consciousness; otherwise, a person may fall into injustice. The position of Ahlus-Sunnah is that: a Sunni remains a Sunni even if he makes a mistake in an issue, and an innovator remains an innovator even if he is correct in an issue. ▪️ How excellent is the statement of Qiwām al-Sunnah al-Taymī رحمه الله: “Ibn Khuzaymah erred regarding the hadith of the Divine Image (ḥadīth al-ṣūrah), but that should not be taken from him (as a reason to reject him), nor should he be criticized because of it.” Look at the balance and moderation in dealing with such matters! The Sunnah holds a tremendous place in the hearts of Ahlus-Sunnah. Whoever is from its people and calls to it possesses great virtues, and the people of Sunnah recognize and take those virtues into consideration. ▪️ Where is the esteem for the Sunnah and Tawḥīd in the hearts of those who expel people of Sunnah from the fold of Sunnah because of a slip-up for which neither Ahlus-Sunnah nor their scholars would expel them? ▪️ There is a difference between a misguided innovator and a scholar from Ahlus-Sunnah who has spent his life defending the Sunnah, whose beard has turned gray in its service, yet made a mistake in one issue—and every son of Adam makes mistakes. Does he then become equal to the worst of the innovators? By Allah, this is not justice in any sense, nor is it the way of Ahlus-Sunnah. 🎙 By Shaykh Ṣāliḥ ibn ʿAbdil-ʿAzīz as-Sindī حفظه الله, Professor of ʿAqīdah in the College of Daʿwah and Fundamentals of Religion at the Islamic University of Madinah. https://t.me/saalihsindi/18 https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VbD5OsZH5JM0pjH4H20s

How to become grounded in 'Aqīdah 🎙 Sheikh Sālih As-Sindi حفظه الله said: There is no doubt that the science of 'Aqeedah (Islamic Creed), like other sciences, requires dedicating hours and complete focus. The science of 'Aqeedah in particular requires anyone who wishes to delve deeply into it to devote themselves entirely to it. In my view, it is not a science that one can simply take alongside others; rather, a person must dedicate themselves to this science because it is vast and deep, especially if they wish to specialize, understand opposing views, and refute them. The books of 'Aqeedah are numerous, and progressing through them gradually is crucial due to their sheer volume and varying levels of complexity. To specialize and gain mastery in this science—and others—one should follow four parallel paths: 1. Attending scholars' gatherings: Taking knowledge directly from them (i.e., studying under scholars). 2.Reading and surveying books: Once a reasonable level of understanding and comprehension is reached. 3.Memorizing foundational texts (Mutun). 4. Conducting research: Taking a specific issue, selecting particular books, and beginning to research (and I emphasize researching, not just printing or copying). By doing this, one can truly delve deep. If you want to shorten the path of knowledge for yourself, especially in the chapter of belief, I invite you to study the books of Shaykh al-Islam [Ibn Taymiyyah], may Allah have mercy on him. Through them, you will reach the core and essence via the shortest path. I highly recommend delving deeply into the works of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and, certainly, the books of his student Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him. I have always told my brothers—and this is a personal viewpoint—to take care of three specific books: read them seriously, try to fully grasp them, continuously review them, and expect much good regarding your creed. These books are: 1. AT-TANBIHĀT AS-SANIYYAH 'ALĀ AL-'AQEEDAH AL-WĀSITIYYAH by Shaykh 'Abdul-'Aziz bn-Nasir ar-Rashid. 2. TAYSĪR AL-'AZĪZ AL-HAMĪD SHARH KITĀB AT-TAWHĪD. 3. SHARH AT-TAHĀWIYYAH. Once you have mastered these and become well-versed in them, advance to MUKHTASAR AS-SAWA'IQ. It is a magnificent book that grants you something essential: the ability to refute opponents while being confident that you are upon the truth. Additionally, the foundational doctrines of opposing sects, particularly regarding Divine Attributes, will become clear to you, making it easier to refute their sub-branches. If you add a fifth book, TARĪQ AL-HIJRATAYN by Ibn al-Qayyim, that is excellent and good. This book serves almost as a summary of the majority of Ibn al-Qayyim's works. After that, set forth, because—Insha Allah—you will be standing on solid ground. 📚 SOURCE: https://t.me/saalihsindi/14 🖊 Transcribed and translated by Abū 'Abdillāh 'Abdullateef bn Hussein #Aqīdah
