"I know we're studying al-Waraqat, but for now please turn to page 1321 of Ibn Taymiyyah's Dar' Ta'arud al-'Aql wa al-Naql."
When you order 5 books from Neel wa Furat....
....they will message you a week later telling you that 6 of the books are unavailable and that you need to mention what replacement titles you want instead.
Beware of the Monetization Trap
I have noticed that some Facebook and X/Twitter pages run by brothers, which were once largely devoted to sharing beneficial ʿilmī reminders, thoughtful reflections, and inspirational quotations, have undergone a striking transformation.
What was once a page for sincere reminders and beneficial content has, in some cases, become dominated by viral news, frivolous videos, memes, crude humour, sensational material, and other forms of content designed primarily to attract attention. There appears to be an increasing emphasis on controversy, virality, views, and engagement, sometimes at the expense of dignity, propriety, and the original purpose of the page.
Sadly, I suspect that monetization has played a significant role in this shift. Once a page begins generating revenue for views/engagement, the incentive can gradually change from sharing what is genuinely beneficial to maximizing exposure and engagement – sometimes even if doing so requires posting content that one would previously have considered inappropriate or beneath one's dignity.
Do not compromise your dignity for a few pennies. Do not allow monetization to become a trap that dictates what you share. Do not publish crude or questionable material simply because it might generate a few cents or attract a few thousand additional views.
A useful standard is simple: if you would feel uncomfortable sharing a particular joke, video, or story in front of your own mother or sister, then you should not be sharing it with the mothers and sisters of others.
Not everything that generates views is worth sharing, and not every opportunity to make money is worth taking.
Some things are more valuable than engagement, virality, or a few cents – and among them are one's dignity, principles, and sense of responsibility.

Syria accomplished in less than two years what Afghanistan has not achieved in five: the removal of sanctions and the creation of conditions that could allow its population to prosper.
Of course, the comparison between the two countries is imperfect. Nevertheless, Syria illustrates the importance of effective diplomacy and strategic decision-making in international politics, rather than relying on prolonged brinkmanship or turning certain policy points into bargaining chips.
The Taliban may claim to be open to greater international integration, but in practice, they have appeared willing to tolerate near-complete political and economic isolation in pursuit of a misplaced sense of pride and exceptionalism – portraying Afghanistan as an “untouched jewel” – with the costs ultimately borne by the Afghan population.
Why does this kind of sound like 30-40 percent of the Friday khutbahs I've listened to locally in the GTA?

Anybody who supported the so-called "hydration breaks" during FIFA and the watering down of the beautiful sport is a mumayyi'.
Very interesting arguments demonstrating that al-Waraqat was potentially authored by Imam Abu Ishaq al-Shirazi, not Imam al-Juwayni.
"In truth, I am cautious and hesitant to say simply, “Ahmad,” without the title “Imam.”
A person might sometimes say it that way and then feel embarrassed – for example, to refer to Imam al-Shafi‘i simply as “al-Shafi‘i,” without “Imam,” or to Abu Hanifah without “Imam,” or Malik without “Imam,” or Ahmad without “Imam.”
These men have a special distinction, a special character and standing. They were Imams, they held a special rank, and they had precedence and an established record of virtue that no one can deny except someone who stubbornly refuses to acknowledge it."
- Shaykh Fahd al-Mutayri
"إن أنفس العلماء عالمة بالفعل، وأنفس المتعلمين عالمة بالقوة، والتعليم هو إبراز ما بالقوة إلى الفعل."
"In the latter parts of his life, Imam Ahmad used to frequently recite Surat al-Kahf as mentioned by Ibn al-Jawzi in Manaqib al-Imam [Ahmad].
The secret behind that - and Allah knows best - is that the Prophet peace be upon him said: 'You will be tried in your graves [in a manner which will be] like or near the fitnah of Masih al-Dajjal.'
It is well-known that whoever memorizes from the first ten verses of Surat al-Kahf, they will be protected from the fitnah of the Dajjal.
So if the fitnah of the grave is like the fitnah of the Dajjal or near it, and a person frequently reads from Surat al-Kahf, then perhaps Allah will protect them from this great fitnah [of the grave as well]."
- Shaykh Fahd al-Mutayri
A new work on Zad al-Mustaqni' has come out, but it is not a typical commentary in the conventional sense.
Instead, it focuses on providing the textual and logical proofs for every single issue mentioned in Zad, with special attention to providing the wajh al-istidlal.
Afghanistan is facing a tragic loss as 19 young men who traveled toward Iran in search of work were found dead in the deserts of Nimroz. They all died from extreme heat and dehydration.
The video of the man dying, giving his final goodbye to his family, is heartbreaking.

Repost from Project Ihya
As-Salamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Project Ihya is pleased to announce the release of the first response in our series addressing some of the most common objections to the Hadith tradition, using Joshua Little's list of 21 objections as its framework.
Objection One: Historical Parallels and the Reliability of Hadith takes up Little's opening argument, namely that since false attribution occurred in other religious traditions, the Hadith tradition should be presumed unreliable from the outset. The response examines the reasoning behind this appeal to prior probability, presents the verification practices of the earliest generations of Muslims in detail, and assesses which explanation the historical evidence better supports. Readers will find the epistemological groundwork for this discussion in the Introduction, which is now available in both English and Arabic.
This project is the combined effort of the Project Ihya Research Team, which is composed of traditionally trained scholars and academic researchers in the Islamic sciences, particularly Hadith, together with modern academics and external reviewers. It seeks to present rigorous, accessible, and academically robust responses that engage both the classical Islamic tradition and contemporary historical scholarship.
Subsequent responses will be released periodically, God willing. Once the series is complete, all of the responses will be revised, expanded with additional notes, and compiled into a single volume, God willing.
We ask Allah ﷻ to accept this effort, make it beneficial for the Ummah, and grant us sincerity, correctness, and acceptance.
Objection One and the Introduction are available for download at: https://projectihya.com/publications/
