Rita Levi-Montalcini (1909–2012)
Rita Levi-Montalcini was born on 22 April 1909 in Turin, Italy.
despite opposition from her father, who believed women should focus on family life rather than careers, she chose to study medicine.
during the Second World War, anti-Jewish laws prevented her from working in universities. she responded by building a small laboratory in her bedroom, where she continued her research in secret. after the war, Levi-Montalcini discovered nerve growth factor (NGF), a protein that plays a crucial role in the growth and survival of nerve cells. this discovery transformed neuroscience and greatly improved scientists' understanding of how the nervous system develops. her research has influenced studies into Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, cancer, and many other neurological conditions. in 1986, she received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. she died on 30 December 2012, aged one hundred and three.
Also even though writing such an iconic and big and huge thing, with a really twisted propaganda they tried to make your stories "childish" so you won't be taken seriously, by making Anne Sherly a child book character, making cartoons and bedtime stories out of it, but those same kids learnt from her story how to be brave enough and how to know that they're no different from man. Those same kids now are big feminists. YOU CAN NOT SILENCE THE LOUD VOICE OF WRITTEN WORDS
And those books are anything but child stories and you can tell from the literature it's even hard for a grown ass and how iconic to write in such huge words and heavy literature in world you can not go to college or study properly
Yet they say male writers are better or at least "were" meanwhile no Dostoevsky character is as famous as Anne Sherly
+1
Rare aesthetic: you wrote a book and created characters that they're still making movies and series out of after 100+ years and also created the most iconic character who is an orphan girl being mistakenly taken to help a family with farm work (they wanted a boy) but she proved that a girl can be as good as a boy and made her statement, also wrote other books with female main characters trying to free themselves from misogynistic thoughts on them and their lifestyle while living in a timeline in which woman would publish books under a male nickname just to be taken seriously as much.
