📖 The Most Noble Goal a Person Can Pursue in Life
🎙️ Shaykh Ṣāliḥ ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz Sindī, may Allah preserve him, said:
“The noblest thing you can seek is knowledge. Because of this, many scholars have stated that knowledge is the best of deeds.
This is Sufyān Ath-Thawrī, may Allah have mercy on him, who said: ‘There is no deed better than seeking knowledge for the one whose intention is sincere.’ There is nothing better than seeking knowledge when one’s intention is sincere.
Similarly, Ash-Shāfiʿī said: ‘There is nothing, after the obligatory duties, better than seeking knowledge.’
Learning and teaching knowledge held a tremendous status among early scholars; nothing surpassed it.
This is Makḥūl, and this is al-Zuhrī, may Allah have mercy on both of them, who said: ‘Allah is not worshipped with anything better than understanding [the religion].’
And Ibn al-Mubārak, may Allah have mercy on him, said: ‘I do not know of anything after prophethood that is better than spreading knowledge.’
What is the reason? The immense need for it.
Imām Aḥmad, may Allah have mercy on him, said: ‘People’s need for knowledge is greater than their need for food and drink.’ He spoke the truth, may Allah have mercy on him.
Food and drink sustain the bodies, but knowledge gives life to the hearts and souls, and salvation relies upon the latter.
As for the bodies, we share many things with animals. Food, drink, sleep, marriage, and similar needs are common between humans and animals. Indeed, there may even be animals that have a greater share of some of these needs than humans.
However, the distinguishing quality with which Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has distinguished us from animals is the life of hearts and souls.
And knowledge is the means and the path.
So, if Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, makes the path of knowledge easy for you, then rejoice in this good. Know that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has made easy for you the very best kind of goodness.
‘Whomever Allah intends good for, He grants him understanding of the religion.’

| 3 | Lines of Poetry attributed to Imām Ash-Shāfi'i رحمه الله:
وَلَيْسَ اكْتِسَابُ الْعِلْـمِ يَا نَفْسُ فَاعْلَمِي ... بِمِيرَاثِ آبَــــــــــاءٍ كِـــــــــــــــــرَامٍ وَلَا صِهْرِ!
O soul, know that acquiring knowledge does not come through inheriting it from noble fathers, nor through family ties by marriage.
وَلَكِنَّ فَتَىٰ الفِتْيَانِ مَــــــــنْ رَاحَ وَاغْتَدَىٰ ... لِيَطْلُبَ عِلْمًـــــــــــــــــــــــا بِالتَّجَلُّدِ وَالصَّبْرِ!
Rather, the finest of young men is the one who goes forth morning and evening in pursuit of knowledge, with perseverance and patience.
فَإِنْ نَالَ عِلْمًـا عَاشَ فِي النَّاسِ مَاجِدًا ... وَإِنْ مَاتَ قَالَ النَّاسُ بَالَغَ فِي الْعُــذْرِ!
If he attains knowledge, he lives among people honored and noble; and when he dies, people will speak of him with praise and excuse his shortcomings.
إذَا هَجَـعَ النُّــوَّامُ أَسْبَلْتُ عَبْـــــــــــــــــرَتِي! ... وَأَنْشَدْتُّ بَيْتًا وَهُوَ مِنْ أَلْطَفِ الشِّعْرِ!
When those who sleep have gone to rest, I let my tears flow, and I recite a verse—one of the most beautiful and delicate lines of poetry.
أَلَيْسَ مِــــــــــــــــــــــــــــنَ الْخُسْرَانِ أَنَّ لَيَالِيًا ... تَمُرُّ بِلَا عِلْمٍ وَتُحْسَبُ مِنْ عُمْــــــــــــرِي!!!
Is it not a great loss that nights pass without me gaining knowledge, yet they are still counted as part of my life?!

| 4 | One of the wise men said to his brother:
يَا أَخِي! (عَقْلُكَ) لَا يَتَّسِعُ لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ؛ فَفَرِّغْهُ لَأَوَّلِ الْمُهِمِّ مِنْ أَمْرِكَ!
My brother! Your mind cannot accommodate everything, so devote it first to what is most important in your affairs.
وَ(كَرَامَتُكَ) لَا تَسَعُ النَّاسَ؛ فَخُصَّ بِهَا أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِكَ!
And your honor and generosity cannot encompass everyone, so reserve them for those who are most deserving of them from among the people.
وَ(لَيْلُكَ وَنَهَارُكَ) لَا يَسْتَوْعِبَانِ حَوَائِجَكَ؛ فَأَسْقِطْ عَنْكَ مَا لَكَ مِنْهُ بُدٌّ!
And your night and day cannot accommodate all your needs, so let go of whatever you can do without.
وَلَيْسَ مِنَ (الْعَقْلِ) أَنْ تَذَرَ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا لَا بُدَّ مِنْهُ!
It is not wisdom to neglect any good that is necessary and cannot be dispensed with.
وَلَا تَمْدَحْ مَنْ لَمْ تُخْبَرْ إِحْسَانُهُ!
And do not praise someone whose good character and deeds you have not come to know for yourself.

| 6 | Learning Knowledge and Teaching It Are Among the Greatest Forms of Jihad
Imām Ibnus-Saʿdi, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
“Among the greatest forms of jihad is pursuing the paths of learning and teaching. For a person whose intention is sincere, engaging in this does not compare to any other deed, because of what it entails of reviving knowledge and the religion, guiding those who are ignorant, calling to goodness, forbidding evil, and bringing about abundant good of which people are in constant need.
‘Whoever follows a path in pursuit of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him, through it, a path to Paradise.’”

| 7 | A REMINDER FROM TODAY’S LESSON
In today’s lesson on the explanation of the Hāiyyah poem of Ḥāfidh Al-Ḥakami, Shaykh Sulaymān Ar-Ruḥaylī حفظه الله gave an important reminder concerning the rights of our Muslim brothers and sisters who are facing hardship in different parts of the world.
He mentioned that it is from their rights upon us to continue to make duʿāʾ for them and not only remember them when their situation becomes a trend and people begin saying, “We stand with Palestine,” or when their suffering is widely circulated.
Our brothers and sisters in Palestine, our Muslim brothers affected by the wildfires in Algeria, our brothers and sisters affected by the floods and landslides in Nepal, and Muslims elsewhere who are experiencing trials and hardship—all of them have a right upon us that we remember them in our supplications.
The hardship of a Muslim is not forgotten simply because it is no longer trending.
So let us make it a habit to sincerely ask Allah ﷻ to relieve the suffering of our brothers and sisters, protect them, grant them patience and steadfastness, heal the wounded, have mercy upon those who have died, and bring ease after hardship.
Do not let the disappearance of a trend cause the disappearance of your duʿāʾ.
May Allah relieve the hardship of every Muslim who is suffering, wherever they may be. آمين.

| 10 | 💎 THE FRUIT OF KNOWLEDGE IS ACTION
Al-Khaṭīb Al-Baghdādī رحمه الله said in Iqtidhāʾul-ʿIlmil-ʿAmal (اقتضاء العلم العمل):
“I advise you—O seeker of knowledge—to have a sincere intention in seeking it, and to exhaust the soul in acting upon its requirements. For knowledge is a tree, and action is a fruit; and one is not considered a scholar who does not act upon his knowledge.
So do not be comforted by action as long as you are desolate of knowledge, and do not be comforted by knowledge as long as you are falling short in action. Rather, combine them both, even if your share of them is small.
There is nothing weaker than a scholar whose knowledge the people have abandoned because of the corruption of his path, and an ignorant person whose ignorance the people have adopted because they look to his worship. A little of this with a little of that is more saving in the end, if Allah bestows His mercy and completes His favor upon His servant.
As for procrastination and neglect, loving ease and indulgence, preferring comfort and tranquillity, and leaning towards rest and spaciousness—then the endings of these traits are blameworthy, and their consequences are hateful and disastrous.
Knowledge is sought for action just as action is sought for salvation. So if action falls short of knowledge, the knowledge becomes a burden upon the scholar. We seek refuge in Allah from knowledge that returns as a burden, inherits humiliation, and becomes a shackle around the neck of its possessor!
Is the gatherer of the books of knowledge anything but like the gatherer of silver and gold? And is the one who is voracious for them anything but like the greedy, covetous one over them both? What is the benefit of gold and silver if a person hoards it, does not benefit from it, and does not spend it?! And knowledge, what is its benefit if a person gathers it, does not act upon it, and does not give it freely?!
Just as wealth does not benefit except by spending it, likewise, the sciences do not benefit except for the one who acts upon them and observes their duties.
So let a person look to his own soul, and let him seize his time. For the stay is short, the departure is near, the road is fearsome, delusion is prevalent, the danger is great, the Critic (Allāh) is All-Seeing, and Allāh —the Exalted—is ever-watchful, and to Him is the return and the final destination.
‘So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.’
(Al-Zalzalah: 7–8)”

| 11 | Clarification Regarding Shaykh Fawzān's stance on Imām Al-Albānī
During a private sitting with Shaykh Daghash al-‘Ajmi on Wednesday, 13 Rabī‘ al-Awwal 1448 AH (26 August 2026), we asked him for some advice regarding the issue of al-‘udhr bil-jahl (the excuse of ignorance).
After clarifying the matter, he was also asked about Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān’s statement in which he described Shaykh al-Albāni as a Murji’. Shaykh Daghash mentioned that he had personally spoken to Shaykh al-Fawzān about this matter and informed him that Shaykh al-Albāni held that:
الإيمان قول وعمل واعتقاد، يزيد وينقص
“Īmān is speech, action and belief; it increases and decreases.”
He referenced Shaykh al-Albāni’s verification (taḥqīq) of al-Qawl al-Musaddad fī adh-Dhabbi ‘an Musnad al-Imām Aḥmad by al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar al-‘Asqalānī.
Upon this clarification, Shaykh al-Fawzān retracted his statement regarding Shaykh al-Albāni.
Shaykh Daghash mentioned that this conversation took place in Shaykh al-Fawzān’s own car, shortly before Shaykh al-Fawzān was appointed Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

| 15 | 📖 A SINCERE ADVICE: HOW TO REPENT FROM MAWLID
The season has passed. The festivities are done, the food has been eaten, the music has faded, and the gatherings have dispersed. What was perceived as a celebration is over, but the reality remains: the deeds have been recorded, and the innovation has been written.
تفنى اللذاذة ممن نال صفوتها * من الحرام ويبقى الإثم والعار
تبقى عواقب سوء في مغبتها * لا خير في لذة من بعدها النار
The pleasure fades from the one who attained its peak from the unlawful, while the sin and shame remain.
Evil consequences remain in its aftermath; there is no good in a pleasure after which is the Fire.
However, Ahlus-Sunnah differ from the extreme groups. We firmly warn against religious innovations (Bid’ah), yet we never make people despair of Allah's mercy. He is Ar-Rahman, the All-Merciful.
The Prophet (ﷺ) gave us immense hope when he said:
“Indeed, Allah extends His Hand during the night so that the sinners of the day may repent, and He extends His Hand during the day so that the sinners of the night may repent, until the sun rises from the west.”
(Sahih Muslim)
Truly, the door of repentance is open until the sun rises from the west.
If you fell into the innovation of Mawlid, here is sincere advice on how to return to the pure Sunnah, depending on your situation:
A PATH TO RECTIFICATION FOR EVERY INDIVIDUAL
For the Ignorant
If you participated out of a lack of knowledge, thinking it was a good deed, the door to clarity is open. Check the numerous, gentle clarifications provided by the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah—may Allah bless their efforts.
Learn why the Prophet (ﷺ) and his Companions never celebrated this day. Remember the Hadith:
“Whoever introduces into this matter of ours that which is not of it, it will be rejected.”
(Al-Bukhari & Muslim)
Seek knowledge; it is your shield.
For the Blind-Follower
If you went along with the crowd, following cultural norms or family traditions, it is time to prioritize the Sunnah over society.
True love for the Prophet (ﷺ) is demonstrated through obedience, not innovation. As Allah says:
“Say, [O Muhammad], ‘If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins.’”
(Qur’an 3:31)
For the Knowledgeable
If you knew the truth of this matter but still participated—yielding to desires, social pressure, or worldly gain—fear Allah.
You know the gravity of opposing the Sunnah. Renew your sincerity, ask for forgiveness, and let your knowledge guide your actions, not your environment.
For the Caller and Promoter
This is the most dangerous position. If you called to this innovation through your speech, actions, organization, or social media posts, your repentance requires an extra step.
You must not only stop and regret the action, but you must also clarify and rectify.
Allah says regarding those who conceal the truth:
“Except for those who repent and correct themselves and make evident [what they concealed]. Those—I will accept their repentance.”
(Qur’an 2:160)
Delete those posts, inform your followers of your mistake, and use your platform to champion the Sunnah.
The Conditions of a Sincere Repentance
To ensure your Tawbah is accepted, simply fulfill its conditions:
- Cease the action immediately.
- Feel deep regret for falling into innovation.
- Have a firm resolve never to return to it.
- Make amends, especially if you promoted it to others.
May Allah forgive our shortcomings, fill our hearts with true love for the Prophet (ﷺ) through adherence to his Sunnah, and keep us steadfast upon the Haqq.

The Companion Hakim ibn Hizam, may Allah be pleased with him, was from the nobles of Quraysh, and he used to seek knowledge from the Companion Muadh ibn Jabal, may Allah be pleased with him, despite the fact that he was fifty years older than Muadh!
فقيل له: أنت تتعلم على يد هذا الغلام؟!
So it was said to him: "You are learning at the hand of this young man?!"
فقال: إنما أهلكنا التكبر!
So he said: "It is only arrogance that destroyed us!"

O seeker of knowledge, O Sunnī (whether male or female), know that there is nothing greater in status nor higher in rank in this world—along with what is hoped for you of immense reward in the Hereafter and elevation with Allah the Exalted, provided you are sincere to Allah—than being a guardian over the frontier of Tawḥīd, a guardian over the frontier of the Sunnah, a guardian over the evidence which you verify and give precedence to, and a guardian over beneficial knowledge which you learn and propagate; and [than being] one who acts upon righteous deeds, preserves rights, excels in dealing with people, and mutually advises to the truth, and mutually advises to patience.
So hold fast to this high honor, bite onto it with your molar teeth, never budge from it, and do not extend your eyes toward anything else, even if the beautifiers embellish it."
