Rinsing the Mouth After Drinking Milk
المَضْمَضَة مِنَ اللَّبَن
When enjoying a glass of milk, many of us simply finish our drink and move on. However, there is a simple and often neglected Sunnah associated with drinking milk: rinsing the mouth with water afterwards.
The Prophet ﷺ would rinse his mouth after drinking milk and explained the practical reason for doing so.
Ibn ‘Abbas رضي الله عنهما reported:
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ شَرِبَ لَبَنًا فَمَضْمَضَ وَقَالَ: إِنَّ لَهُ دَسَمًا
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ drank some milk, then rinsed his mouth and said: ‘It contains fat.’”
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 211)
Action Point for Today:
The next time you drink milk, take a few seconds to rinse your mouth with water afterwards.
By doing so with the sincere intention of following the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ, an ordinary daily habit can become an act of worship and a means of earning reward, in shā’ Allāh.
Revive a Sunnah. Practice it. And share it with others!

| 3 | DON’T BE EMOTIONAL ‼️
One of the most subtle ways Shaitan deceives us is through our emotions.
In our pursuit of the truth, it is incredibly easy to be swayed by the tears of a speaker, the outward piety in someone’s dressing, or the fiery zeal (hamāsah) of their delivery. But emotional reasoning is not the yardstick of our religion.
Islam is built upon a firm foundation: what Allah said, what His Messenger ﷺ said, and how the Sahabah understood it.
This does not mean Muslims are supposed to be robotic or void of feeling. To lack emotion is to lack humanity. The Prophet ﷺ was the most complete of humans—he laughed, he grieved, he loved deeply, and he wept.
But he drew a sharp and impenetrable line between natural human emotion and the implementation of the religion. When it came to the Deen, the only currency was evidence.
Consider his beloved uncle, Abu Talib. Abu Talib protected him, loved him, and raised him, but he died upon disbelief. In Islam, a disbeliever does not possess the same hurmah (sanctity) in death as a Muslim.
The Prophet ﷺ did not allow his immense grief and familial love to alter the rulings of Allah. He did not establish special Islamic funeral rites for him. Instead, he instructed Ali to go and cover his father beneath the sand. The emotion was real, but the religion remained objective.
We see this same unwavering adherence to evidence over emotion in the Sahabah.
We are taught to respect our elders and revere the great men of this Ummah, but that reverence never overrides the text.
Abdullah ibn Abbas رضي الله عنهما famously became frustrated with people who tried to counter the Sunnah by quoting the opinions of the two greatest men after the Prophets: Abu Bakr and Umar رضي الله عنهما.
He warned them:
“I fear that stones are about to rain down upon you from the sky! I say to you, ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,’ and you say to me, ‘Abu Bakr and Umar said!’”
If the opinions of Abu Bakr and Umar رضي الله عنهما cannot be weighed against the words of the Prophet ﷺ, then how can we weigh the religion against our own fleeting feelings, biases, or attachments?
This is the balance of Islam.
We do not discard our intellect, nor do we abandon wisdom and respect when dealing with people. But when it comes to the truth, we do not judge based on tears, appearances, or passion.
The religion remains what Allah legislated, what Muhammad ﷺ conveyed, and what the righteous predecessors understood.

🌙 SURAH AL-FĀTIḤAH — THE OPENING
📖 What is Sūrah al-Fātiḥah?
Sūrah al-Fātiḥah is the first sūrah of the Qur’an. It contains seven āyāt and is recited in every rakʿah of the prayer.
It teaches us who Allah is, how we should worship Him, how we should ask Him for help, and how we should ask Him to guide us to the straight path.
🌱 What should our children learn from Sūrah al-Fātiḥah?
Children should learn that:
• Allah is the Lord and Creator of everything.
• Allah is the Most Merciful and Most Compassionate.
• We worship Allah alone.
• We ask Allah alone for help.
• We should always ask Allah to guide us to the straight path.
• The greatest blessing is to be guided to the truth.
• A Muslim should love Allah, worship Him, rely upon Him, and ask Him for guidance.
📩 A message for parents
Do not teach your child to memorize al-Fātiḥah merely as words that must be repeated.
Teach them what they are saying.
When your child says:
﴿الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ﴾
Teach them: “Allah is the Lord of everything.”
When they say:
﴿إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ﴾
Teach them: “We worship Allah alone, and we ask Allah alone for help.”
And when they say:
﴿اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ﴾
Teach them: “We are asking Allah to guide us to the straight path.”
Let the Qur’an become something your child understands, loves, recites, and lives by — not merely something they memorize.

| 8 | A REMINDER FROM TODAY’S LESSON
In today’s lesson on the explanation of the Hāiyyah poem of Ḥāfidh Al-Ḥakami, Shaykh Sulaymān Ar-Ruḥaylī حفظه الله gave an important reminder concerning the rights of our Muslim brothers and sisters who are facing hardship in different parts of the world.
He mentioned that it is from their rights upon us to continue to make duʿāʾ for them and not only remember them when their situation becomes a trend and people begin saying, “We stand with Palestine,” or when their suffering is widely circulated.
Our brothers and sisters in Palestine, our Muslim brothers affected by the wildfires in Algeria, our brothers and sisters affected by the floods and landslides in Nepal, and Muslims elsewhere who are experiencing trials and hardship—all of them have a right upon us that we remember them in our supplications.
The hardship of a Muslim is not forgotten simply because it is no longer trending.
So let us make it a habit to sincerely ask Allah ﷻ to relieve the suffering of our brothers and sisters, protect them, grant them patience and steadfastness, heal the wounded, have mercy upon those who have died, and bring ease after hardship.
Do not let the disappearance of a trend cause the disappearance of your duʿāʾ.
May Allah relieve the hardship of every Muslim who is suffering, wherever they may be. آمين.

Think about this: a very big city- Allāh destroyed it in the blink of an eye.
Yet you disobey Allāh day and night and feel safe from His punishment.
أفأمنوا مكر الله فلا يأمن مكر الله إلا القوم الخاسرون. | 101 |
| 11 | IS MAWLID ON THE 12TH OR THE 17TH ⁉️

Allah spoke the truth:
أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْآنَ ۚ وَلَوْ كَانَ مِنْ عِندِ غَيْرِ اللَّهِ لَوَجَدُوا فِيهِ اخْتِلَافًا كَثِيرًا
“Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’an? If it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction.” (Surah An-Nisa, 4:82)
A key sign that a practice is not from Allah is contradiction and disagreement. What Allah legislates is complete, precise, and aims to unify the Ummah.
Consider the festivals Allah has established: Eidul-Fitr and Eidul-Adha. Their dates are set and universally recognized. You won’t find Muslims intentionally celebrating Eidul-Adha on the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah while others celebrate it days later. Any genuine difference arises from natural variations in moon sighting and methods to determine the lunar month’s start—not from ambiguity in the legislation.
Regarding Mawlid, since it was not established by Allah or His Messenger ﷺ, there are differing claims about its date:
- Some observe it on the 12th of Rabi‘ul-Awwal.
- Others celebrate it on the 17th.
- Early scholars and historians also disagreed, mentioning dates like the 8th or 9th of Rabi‘ul-Awwal.
This disagreement about the very foundation and date of Mawlid should prompt us to ask: Is Mawlid on the 12th or the 17th?
Islam is built upon certainty and unity. Allah perfected the religion, and His Messenger ﷺ conveyed it fully.
Let us therefore unify around the clear acts of worship that Allah and His Messenger ﷺ legislated and perfected for this Ummah.
