On 24/ 08/ 2024 G.C Neurodiversity Center Ethiopia hosted a consultative meeting with Artists and media professionals at Interluxury Hotel, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The meeting aimed at bringing forward the pressing issue of neurodiversity, child and  adolescent mental health with the intention of creating an opportunity to discuss this with professionals within the art community. Opening remarks were made by our board chair Dr. Menelik Desta. Dr. Menelik emphasised on the need to respect and validate the emotions and needs of all neurodivergent individuals as this is one of the areas of stigmatization these people face on daily basis. Following the opening remarks our discussions revolved around how art is an important tool in advocating for the neurodivergent community and how it can be a tool for neurodivergent individuals to communicate their thoughts, emotions and talents to the world. This being said we concluded our discussions by these professionals pledging to play their crucial role in advocating for and supporting the neurodivergent community in every way possible. Finally we were able to lay out action plans with specific goals and objectives to make our discussions a reality. Neurodiversity Center Ethiopia would like to extend its heart felt gratitude to all personnel who made this event successful. #Neurodiversity #inclusivecommunity #Artforchange #SupportNeurodivergentVoices

11/07/2024 G.C. Monthly Caregivers meeting Our discussion for the month of July mainly focused on the topic of ADHD.  An informative session about the features, diagnosis and treatment of ADHD was delivered by Dr. Tesmami Melese ( a psychiatric resident at SPHMMC). We were able to raise points regarding the effectiveness of the treatment of ADHD but despite this caregivers in our country are faced with great challenges due to unavailability of the medication. As an advocate of neurodiversity and that of child mental health, NDCE strives and hopes to bring an impact regarding this issue in the near future. We would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Tesmami Melese for her wonderful presentation and St.Paul Hospital Millennium Medical College for the continuous support.
