OCCULT HORIZONS by Dr. Jason Reza Jorjani This volume brings together Jorjani’s recent essays on the Occult. These essays include groundbreaking philosophical contributions to understanding the intersection of Quantum Physics, Information Theory, and Parapsychology with a view to the entire spectrum of sentience from plant and animal psi to the nature of Artificial Intelligence. The relation between occultation and the idea of a computational simulacrum repeatedly reemerges. There are also treatments of classic occult subjects such as Astrology, Tarot, Reincarnation, and Close Encounters with various entities. In a number of the essays, Jorjani offers rigorous and systematic interpretations of serious thinkers who have engaged with occult subject matters, such as William James, Charles Fort, Helena Blavatsky, Rudolf Steiner, Manly P. Hall, Jack Parsons, Andrija Puharich, Michael Aquino, and Nick Land. These are complimented by extensive exegetical engagements with occult-themed works of fiction, from the Cthulhu literature of H.P. Lovecraft and the comics of Jack Kirby to films such as Orpheus, TRON, Videodrome, Ghostbusters, X-Men, Star Trek, Star Wars, and The Shining. One recurring theme is the relationship between the Occult and Intelligence, from the days of John Dee and Aleister Crowley to the era of L. Ron Hubbard and MK-Ultra. In this regard there are also some startling revelations about hidden aspects of the biography of Nikola Tesla. What emerges through these essays is a dangerously counter-traditional and archeo-futuristic understanding of the Occult. Reaching back to Set, Mithra, Medea, Prometheus, Lucifer, and Baphomet, Jorjani opens up a new horizon for the future of our relationship with that super-intelligent Trickster that has historically been branded as “Satan” or “the Devil.” Ultimately, a philosophical approach informed by deep study of Heidegger offers a revelation or disclosure of what occultation even is – in other words, how and why something becomes occulted.
