I greatly admire that quality in animals.
I think in men, given we are a different creature - an objectively higher creature, our best instinct is itself the divine pride of an enlightened being. It would be base & undignified of a human to have to revert to animalistic instinct - even as it dignifies the kitten.
The Bodhisattva’s hunt is of a higher quality, but it shares the same leisurely play, the same war for war’s sake - unbothered charm & curiosity in carrying out his skillful means. In short, he is a noble warrior in his own way - as the noblest of animals are in theirs.
