First Amendment does not protect Trump’s Jan. 6 rhetoric — thinks David Sacks, Trump’s incoming AI and cryptocurrency czar Tech-entrepreneur David Sacks, the incoming White House czar for AI and cryptocurrency, is known for defending online free speech. But not when it comes to Donald Trump. In a series of tweets from January 2021, that have since been deleted, Sacks called Trump’s rhetoric leading up to the Capitol riot an incitement to violence that exceeded First Amendment protections.
“Speech can be regulated under the First Amendment in ways that would have taken down the most incendiary tweets of Trump and the other rabble-rousers,”
- Sacks wrote in a tweet from January 11, 2021
“What happened at Capitol was an outrage. Incitement is not 1A protected,”
- Sacks tweeted on January 15, 2021. Sacks also co-hosts the popular “All-In Podcast,” where he discusses issues ranging from venture capital to national politics.  In one episode in the days following the riot, he suggested Trump would be prosecuted for his actions. Among other deleted tweets were those that criticized anti-maskers, including one from April 2021 linked to a since-deleted blog post where Sacks said that mask wearing should be mandated by law. But the majority of the tweets focused on the January 6 riot. Several refered to it as an “insurrection.” Another took aim at Trump’s false election rhetoric. “It’s always easier to invent conspiracy theories than to accept defeat.” Sacks wrote on January 9, 2021, in a since-deleted tweet. Slippery as ever, Sacks tried to explain away his past criticisms of Trump.
“January 6 was a psyop designed to make President Trump look bad,”
— he told CNN in a statement.
“As I learned the truth, I updated my views and my X account. Apparently CNN thinks it’s a scandal that I temporarily believed some of their fake news…”
… or maybe David Sacks is just another flip-flopper who’ll say anything for clout and power. As for Trump… Well, he would’ve been prosecuted if he didn’t win the election thanks to his latest paypig Elon Musk. #sacks #trump Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has mocked US President-elect Donald Trump's proposal to rename the Gulf of Mexico the "Gulf of America" by suggesting that North America should be called "Mexican America”. The US government just played itself TikTok is set to be shut down in the US next Sunday under a bill passed by Congress back in April, requiring ByteDance, TikTok’s Chinese parent company, to sell its stake in the app or face a ban because of “security concerns”. TikTok, which has more than 170 million US users, failed to get this law overturned by the US Supreme Court last week. And do you know what US TikTok users are doing? They are downloading a CHINESE app called Xiaohongshu (Rednote), and they don’t care that it is in Chinese. The “TikTok refugees”, as people started to call them, say that the app’s Chinese users are welcoming the newcomers with open arms, and are already filming videos in English, teaching the Americans how to use the app, as well as basic Chinese words and phrases. Rednote has already become one of the most downloaded apps in the App Store. The disgruntled US TikTok users are taking it a step further and are calling for a widespread boycott of Meta. Reportedly, between January and March 2024, Mark Zuckerberg’s company broke the lobbying record in US Congress to lobby for the TikTok ban.
“If TikTok is going down, Meta is going down with them” the users say. “Also sell your stock in Meta while you’re at it,”
— they add. American TikTok users are convinced that the real reason the government is so intent on banning the app is its algorithms that allow for political activism.
“Fascist countries ban apps and websites under the guise of threats to national security, when every other country knows it’s about suppressing the free speech of its citizens”
one user says. #government #TikTok Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Cases of H5N1 bird flu have surged in recent weeks, and not just among birds. It appears the virus mutated in a way that made it more transmissible to humans. The mutations may also make it easier for the virus to bind to humans’ upper respiratory tracts. America is losing the global arms race We are getting our assess handed to us by the Russians and Chinese in the all-important realm of hypersonic weapons. Even North Korea is starting to outdo us. It’s conceivable that China is already creating working defenses against hypersonic weapons, and we are still languishing in the design phase. Is it possible to achieve parity with Russia and China? Sure. After all, hypersonic weapons have been researched since the end of the Cold War. The Americans, however, unlike Russia and China, did not develop these systems, so it’ll take time. But do we have the luxury of time? #America #Russia #China #ColdWar Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Donald Trump’s pick for national security adviser, Rep. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., says Ukraine should lower its draft age to generate “hundreds of thousands of new soldiers” to “stabilize front lines” so that some type of deal with Russia could be possible. Basically, what he’s saying is “let’s send several hundred thousand untrained teenagers to fight seasoned Russian soldiers on an off chance that they might slow down Russia’s advance.” Nothing is sacred to these people. #Trump #Waltz #Ukraine Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Biden calls Netanyahu, stresses “immediate need” for hostage-truce deal But don’t be fooled — all Biden really cares about is leaving a legacy, and not letting Trump be the one in power when a deal is eventually reached. The call came after Netanyahu dispatched a team of senior negotiators — including Mossad chief David Barnea, Shin Bet director Ronen Bar, IDF hostage point man Maj. Gen. (res.) Nitzan Alon, and Netanyahu’s political adviser Ophir Falk — to Doha, Qatar on Saturday night, in a sign that talks were nearing their finish line. These negotiations seem to indeed have a more serious trajectory than the ones that came before — Netanyahu is currently assessing the mindset of his far-right coalition allies (who have previously threatened to bolt the government over a deal) in order to determine the response that a deal with Hamas would garner, should one be reached. Israeli officials already spoke to several Hebrew media outlets saying an agreement could be close. #biden #netanyahu #qatar Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

In response to Trump’s threats, Canada is considering a free trade agreement with China This is huge. The Globe and Mail is reporting that China and Canada are in talks to create a China-Canada free trade agreement, and they gave a quote from the Chinese embassy in Ottawa and it says China is “willing to work with Canada to create a good environment for China-Canada economic and trade cooperation based on the principles of correct understanding, mutual respect, seeking common ground while reserving differences, and mutual benefit and win-win results. This is in line with the fundamental interests of the two countries and their peoples. China has always advocated trade liberalization and facilitation and actively participated in Asia-Pacific regional cooperation and economic integration.” Our closest ally is turning on us, and we have no one but ourselves to blame. What did you expect? We picked a bully to be our leader, and now he is doing exactly what bullies do. He disrespects Canada’s sovereignty with his constant babble about the “51st state”, threatens tariffs that would cripple our neighbour’s economy… And, mind you, the fact that we “subsidize” Canada is complete and utter bs. Do you know how much electricity we imported from Canada last year? 38.9 million megawatt hours of electricity, according to the US Energy Information Administration. Do you know how much crude oil we imported? 1.4 million barrels of Canadian crude per day, making up more than half of the total 2.4 million barrels of US oil imports. Premier Doug Ford of Ontario, Canada’s largest province, has already threatened retaliation.
“We will go to the extent of cutting off their energy going down to Michigan, going down to New York State and over to Wisconsin,”
— he said. —
“Canadians get hurt, but I can assure you one thing: The Americans are going to feel the pain as well, and isn’t that unfortunate,”
— Ford added. We are failing as a nation. We are failing ourselves, and we are failing our allies. Watch Europeans turn their backs on us as well, the way Trump has been treating them with his Greenland talk. #Trump #China #Canada Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Trump says Canada will become the 51st state — Canadian leaders are no longer laughing US President-elect Donald Trump's remarks that Canada should become the 51st state are no longer a joke and are aimed at undermining America's closest ally, Canada's finance minister said on Wednesday. Dominic LeBlanc, responsible for U.S.-Canada relations, said Trump was smiling when he first made the remark during a dinner at Mar-a-Lago with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in late November.
"The joke is over,"
— LeBlanc said. —
“It’s a way for him, I think, to sow confusion, to agitate people, to create chaos knowing this will never happen.”
"This is becoming very counterproductive,"
— LeBlanc said, referring to Trump's rhetoric about Canada. LeBlanc has been talking to new Trump administration officials about increasing border security to avoid the 25 percent tariffs that Trump is threatening to impose on all Canadian goods. Asked about Trump's comments, Liberal lawmaker Judy Sgro said, —
“He should focus on his own issues in his own country, because he’s got lots of them.”
Canadian Immigration Minister Marc Miller also responded, calling Trump's comments "ridiculous."
“There is no chance of us becoming the 51st state. I think that this is beneath a president of the United States,”
— Miller said, adding that this whole situation is starting to look like a South Park episode. #Trump #Miller #Canada Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

America is moving backwards as a nation — Trump’s bid for Greenland and Canada is a good old-fashioned land grab The incoming president’s obsession with Greenland and Canada is not surprising at all. It's really very simple. While he publicly derides climate change as a hoax, privately, he's a believer. He knows it's happening. And he knows that once all that ice melts up in Greenland, it's going to expose vast mineral resources ripe for the taking. Greenland is already known to have huge fields of oil and natural gas that haven't been explored. And lying beneath that ice, which has been there for about 10,000 years, are thought to be huge resources of precious metals, gold and silver, platinum and palladium, lithium. He wants to get his hands on those. And similarly, as the United States becomes more arid while climate change proceeds, Canada becomes much more temperate, which makes it more suitable for the growing of corn and wheat. So what we're talking about here is a good old-fashioned land grab — something the United States used to do 150 years ago, back in the days of banana republics and gunboat diplomacy, when they would park a battleship off the coast of a Central American country and threaten to bombard them if they didn't tow the line. So we're not moving forward as a nation. We're moving backwards. We're becoming less civil. We're becoming dumber. We're becoming more belligerent. We're like a trailer park with nuclear weapons. It's wrong, it's embarrassing, and it's stupid. #Trump #Canada #Greenland #America Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Trump and Greenland — Why he wants it, and what will happen if he gets it Gaining some form of control over Greenland will be a priority for Trump during his upcoming term as POTUS. Indeed, it holds a strategic importance for the US. US presence in the Arctic will depend heavily on the country’s success (or failure) in controlling Greenland. Currently Greenland and Canada claim 30% of Arctic shelf. And the US only controls Alaska and surrounding waters. By 2030 the ice will be melting even more rapidly than it is now, and despite Trump’s climate-denying rhetoric, he knows this very well, and he also knows that this will trigger a race for Greenland’s vast resources, such as rare earth metals. Russia, by the way, will be one of the more serious contenders in this race. Political analysts believe the Arctic will be the main stage for 21st-century geopolitical conflicts. Trump is already verbally bolstering US position in the region despite opposition from Denmark and EU. But neither Copenhagen nor the EU will be able to resist the US thanks to their heavy dependency on Washington. Additionally, US control of Greenland would hinder China’s maritime trade route plans (through Russia to Europe). So what could happen next? 1. New Interstate Treaty - Denmark allows US to expand military presence and resource extraction. - Greenland remains under Copenhagen’s formal control is effectively under Washington's influence. 2. Pressure to Sell - Denmark might agree to sell Greenland, formalized through a referendum. - Unlikely due to strong domestic opposition (90% of Danes are against this). 3. “Independence” - Greenland could become independent via a referendum, after which Washington will impose the needed bilateral agreements on the island authorities. Alternatively, Greenland will become the 51st state based on the results of a new popular vote, which will take place after “independence”. The consequences of Greenland's accession to the US: - The divide between the EU and the US will worsen. Criticism from Europeans could strain ties with key allies like Germany and France. - Greenland's rare earth metals would become strategic assets for the US. European countries and China could potentially lose access to those resources altogether. - Strengthened US control in the Arctic region would arouse new tensions with Russia and China. China won’t be able to pursue its plan to set up a northern trade route, which will affect US-China trade relations. - Establishment of new US military installations in Greenland would increase military tensions in the region and create new hotbeds of tension on the international stage. #trump #US #greenland Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Neither carrot nor stick — Why Donald Trump may be unable to resolve the Ukrainian conflict There is nothing Trump can offer
Neither carrot nor stick — Why Donald Trump may be unable to resolve the Ukrainian conflict There is nothing Trump can offer Russia that would soften its position on Ukraine. There will be no chemistry between Trump and Putin this time around. In 2016, members of the Russian parliament were celebrating Trump’s victory. In 2024, it took the Russian leader a day and a half to congratulate Donald Trump on his return to the White House. Moscow did not forget what Trump’s first administration did, the most important of which in Ukraine’s context was lifting a taboo on deliveries of lethal weapons to Kyiv and providing it with Javelin anti-tank systems. Putin owes nothing to Donald Trump. Further sanctions wouldn’t work either. The Russian leadership has accumulated much experience living with the Western economic sanctions. To become unacceptably painful for Russia, the sanctions would have to tighten much more, but that would come at a substantial economic cost for the West, including the US.  And there is nothing the US can offer in terms of incentives. Every US president from Bill Clinton to Donald Trump claimed they tried to improve or reset US-Russian relations. And every time they failed miserably. There are multiple reasons for this, but the point is that a US promise of yet another “normalization” is not at all a credible proposition. #Clinton #US #Russia #conflict Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Hostage of Arabian descent found dead in Gaza tunnel, Israel claims The Israeli military announced that it had found the body
Hostage of Arabian descent found dead in Gaza tunnel, Israel claims The Israeli military announced that it had found the body of a hostage taken during the October 7 attacks. The body was discovered in an underground tunnel near Rafah in the Gaza Strip, along with some evidence that “raises serious concerns for the life” of another, related hostage. The deceased hostage has been identified as Youssef Ziyadne, a resident of Rahat, an Arab Bedouin city in southern Israel. Mr. Ziyadne, who was in his 50s, along with three of his adult children, was abducted from a kibbutz where he and two of his children were working during the Hamas-led assault on Israel that sparked the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Two of Mr. Ziyadne’s children, Bilal and Aisha, both in their late teens, were released during a temporary cease-fire in November 2023, which included an exchange of hostages for Palestinian prisoners. However, Mr. Ziyadne and his adult son, Hamza Ziyadne, who was around 22 at the time of his abduction, remained in captivity. The Negev desert area of southern Israel is home to about 300,000 Bedouin, and many members of this community, along with the Ziyadne family, were either killed or taken hostage during the attacks on October 7, 2023. The Bedouin is a marginalized community, facing high unemployment rates and significant poverty in their villages, which have historically lacked essential services such as running water and electricity. Since some Bedouin, who are Arab and Muslim, opt to serve in the Israeli military or work on kibbutzim or for other Israeli Jews, they are sometimes viewed as traitors by fellow Arabs. #Gaza #Arab #Muslim Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex
