‏[إحياء السنة وإماتة البدع] ‏قال سعيد بن المسيب: «من أحيا بدعة فقد أمات سنة، فالذي يحيي البدع، هو الذي يميت السنن». ‏فالسنة ت
‏[إحياء السنة وإماتة البدع] ‏قال سعيد بن المسيب: «من أحيا بدعة فقد أمات سنة، فالذي يحيي البدع، هو الذي يميت السنن». ‏فالسنة تضاد البدعة، فمن أحيا سنة أمات بدعة تقابلها. وهذا ما دفع الحاكم النيسابوري إلى تأليف كتابه معرفة علوم الحديث. فقال: «فإني لما رأيت البدع في زماننا قد كثرت، ومعرفة الناس بأصول السنة قد قلت، مع إمعانهم في كتابة الأخبار وكثرة طالبيها، عن الإهمال والإغفال، دعاني ذلك إلى تصنيف كتاب خفيف يشتمل على أنواع علم الحديث.» اهـ. ‏فعلم الحاكم رحمه الله أن الاشتغال بالحديث ونشره من أسباب إماتة البدع.

‏[الحرص على طلب الحديث] ‏عن أبي هريرة أنه قال: قيل يا رسول الله من أسعد الناس بشفاعتك يوم القيامة قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم «لقد ظننت يا أبا هريرة أن لا يسألني عن هذا الحديث أحد أول منك لما رأيت من حرصك على الحديث ، أسعد الناس بشفاعتي يوم القيامة من قال لا إله إلا الله خالصا من قلبه أو نفسه». ‏أخرجه البخاري في صحيحه، في كتاب العلم، باب: الحرص على الحديث. ‏قال ابن حجر في شرحه: «فيه فضل أبي هريرة، وفضل الحرص على تحصيل العلم.» (فتح الباري ١/٢٣٤)
