The year-over-year rate held at 3.4%, but both headline and core m/m came in above forecast — and that is what the market trades. A hike is back on the table.
📌 On a print like this, bounces are usually exits. Shorts have a case — just not on the first sharp drop.
📌 The real event is 9/16 18:00 UTC: a quarterly meeting with the dot plot, setting the whole rate path — not just one decision. No second inflation print before it.
Watch these three:
1️⃣ Whether CME odds hold above 80%
2️⃣ How far the 2-year Treasury yield jumps — that’s the fastest confirmation
3️⃣ Whether AI names open lower; BTC usually follows them
