1. How do you view protests in a democratic country like India?Peaceful protests are an essential part of democracy. They enable citizens to express grievances, demand accountability and influence public policy. However, protests should remain peaceful and respect public order and the rights of others.
2. Why are people protesting against SIR?Protesters have raised concerns about allegation by the two EC (changes in form 6 and centralisation of Electoral rolls) on the possible exclusion of eligible voters, transparency of the verification process and procedural safeguards. They are demanding a rollback of SIR and greater accountability from the Election Commission.
3. Is demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner a legitimate form of democratic dissent?yes, people have the right to peacefully demand the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner as a form of democratic protest. However, Any allegations must be examined through proper legal and constitutional procedures.
4. Does detaining protesters violate Fundamental Rights, or is it lawful?Detention is not automatically unlawful. Articles 19(1)(a) and 19(1)(b) protect freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, subject to constitutional restrictions U/A 19(2). Police may act when legally justified, but detention must have a valid legal basis, be proportionate and comply with procedural safeguards. Peaceful dissent alone is not sufficient justification for arbitrary detention.
5. Is restricting a designated protest site, such as Jantar Mantar, a violation of freedom of expression? Not necessarily. Authorities may regulate protest locations to maintain public order, security and traffic management. However, restrictions must be reasonable, proportionate and non-arbitrary. If restrictions effectively prevent peaceful dissent without adequate justification or alternatives, they may raise constitutional concerns.

1. Why is Arunachal Pradesh strategically important for India?Arunachal Pradesh is strategically important because of its location along the India–China border and its proximity to Tibet. It provides strategic depth to India’s northeastern region and is important for the security of the Siliguri Corridor’s broader northeastern connectivity.
2. Why does China claim Arunachal Pradesh as part of its territory?China claims much of Arunachal Pradesh, particularly Tawang, as part of what it calls South Tibet. It rejects the 1914 McMahon Line, arguing that it was agreed upon without valid Chinese consent. India, however, considers Arunachal Pradesh an integral and inalienable part of India.
3. What message does China seek to convey through military deployments and infrastructure development near the border?China seeks to demonstrate its military preparedness, assert its territorial claims and strengthen its bargaining position during negotiations.
4. Should India adopt a more aggressive policy towards China?I believe India should adopt a firm but calibrated approach rather than an unnecessarily aggressive one. India must strengthen its border infrastructure, military preparedness and economic resilience while continuing diplomatic engagement. #interview2026
