Survivorship bias in backtesting : Its happens when we test a strategy only on stocks that are still trading today. This leaves out companies that performed badly, went bankrupt, or were removed from the stock exchange. Because those failed stocks are missing, the backtest may show better profits and lower risk than an investor would really have experienced. It is like judging a race by looking only at the runners who reached the finish line. A backtest should also include stocks that disappeared during the test period.
