[1, 2] Major proposed outback and regional projects include: Project Ares (Northern Territory): Proposed by Energy North on Murranji Station in the Barkly Region, this 19,150-hectare remote cattle station campus would feature about 90 hectares of data halls powered by local gas from the Beetaloo Basin, solar, and batteries. [1, 2] Bundey (South Australia): Nasdaq-listed firm Iren is building a massive 800-megawatt AI data centre in the virtually uninhabited remote locality of Bundey, located northeast of Adelaide. [1] Western Downs (Queensland): Developer Zerra DC is building a massive data centre near Dalby (250km west of Brisbane), where AI giant Anthropic has agreed to lease space to run its Claude AI program. [1, 2] The Pilbara and North-West (Western Australia): Developers and miners like Fortescue are eyeing the region's massive private renewable energy grids to support future outback tech hubs. [1]
