To make it easier, here is a football vocabulary set for you!
midfielder – a player who plays in midfield (= the central area of the field)
to blow a whistle – to tell people publicly about something bad that someone is doing
to concede (a goal) – when a team receives a goal against them
to substitute – (to sub) to replace one player on the field with another player that was on the bench.
to tackle – to challenge and try and take the ball from an opposing player.
chip shot – a shot that is lofted over the goalkeeper's head.
