| 6 | Vibe coding has a 99% death rate. Most apps never leave localhost and almost none make money.
We have built a screenshot economy. More apps than ever get built, but fewer of them get really used. Vibe coding made "it runs" free, so our feeds fills with apps that work on localhost, earn a screenshot or demo, collect some likes, and never get opened by anyone outside the thread. Nobody is lying. They are just mistaking the easy 20% for the whole job and posting the proof.
The same thing happens inside enterprises, just with a budget. The pilot that wows the steering committee is a localhost app with a logo on it. Great demo, no users and absolutely no revenue.
Yes, it's easier than ever to build software. But it's not easier to build something useful. The critical part is exactly what it always was: understand a real customer need, build a solution worth using, earn trust over time, and find a way to reach the right people.
Call it the localhost economy. Building is free now, and when everyone can build, building was never the moat. Distribution, trust, and someone willing to pay twice always were. So the only question worth asking about any AI project right now: did you build something people need, or something you could ship over a weekend?

| 13 | Rocketmaker SpaceX began trading on the Nasdaq Friday, boosting Elon Musk’s fortune to an estimated $1.1 trillion.
The idea of anyone becoming a trillionaire seemed unfathomable even just a couple years ago. But Musk has been building toward this record for more than a quarter century. | 177 |
| 14 | Palmer Luckey founded Oculus, the company that helped take VR mainstream and relied heavily on China for manufacturing. Meta’s Quest headsets still do.
Now, with years of experience building hardware, he says many American tech companies have slowly lost the ability to build things themselves.
According to him, a lot of the real work has moved overseas, especially to China, where teams are not just making products, but also figuring out how to make them work properly at scale.
He says the problem is that too many engineers today can plan big ideas on paper, but don’t have enough real experience with building, testing, fixing, and improving physical products.
