The changes are effective from the date of publication in the Gazette. *Key Changes for Physiotherapy* *Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT)** * Duration increased from 4½ years to 5 years. * Entry qualification remains 10+2. *Master of Physiotherapy (MPT)** The generic MPT degree has now been specified into the following specializations: * MPT (Musculoskeletal Sciences) * MPT (Neuro Sciences) * MPT (Cardio-Pulmonary Sciences) * MPT (Sports Sciences) * MPT (Pediatrics & Neonatal Sciences) * MPT (Obstetrics & Gynecology Sciences) * MPT (Oncology Sciences) * MPT (Community Rehabilitation Sciences) All are 2-year Master's programmes after graduation. Universities running MPT programmes are required to restructure their courses and award degrees under these specified specializations. *What This Means for Physiotherapy Colleges* 1. BPT programmes should now be structured as 5-year degree programmes. 2. MPT programmes should be offered and awarded under the specified specialization titles rather than a generic MPT degree. 3. These changes align physiotherapy education with the NCAHP framework and UGC-recognized degree nomenclature. In one line: UGC has officially recognized a 5-year BPT programme and has standardized MPT degrees into eight specialization-based titles under the NCAHP framework.
