Pope St. Gregory the Great Feast Day - 3 September Patron saint of musicians, singers, students, teachers.🎶 Only one of three popes who enjoy the appellation, "the great". Pope from 590-604. He was the first pope to come from the monastic life and was strongly dedicated to poverty. He was known for his charitable heart where he generously gave relief to the poor. He paid ransome for captives, took care of victims of plague and famine. He used to often say that the wealth of the Church belonged to the poor and the church is only the custodian. He instructed clergy to move to the streets and take care of the poor and anyone who objected to this was relieved of his duties. As pope, Gregory was responsible for sending missionaries that began the Christianization of Britain. He remains are still to be found at St Peter's Basilica. + Pope St Gregory, the Great, pray for us 🙏

The seven great sorrows which Mary lived in relation to Her Son, as they are recorded in the Gospels or through Tradition. 1. At the prophecy of Simeon: "You yourself shall be pierced with a sword - so that the thoughts of many hearts may be laid bare." (Luke 2:35). 2. At the flight into Egypt; "Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt." (Matthew 2:13). 3. Having lost the Holy Child at Jerusalem; "You see that your father and I have been searching for you in sorrow." (Luke 2:48). 4. The Carrying of the Cross (John 19:17) 5. The Crucifixion of Jesus (John 19:18-30) 6. Jesus being taken from the Cross (John 19:39-40) 7. At the burial of Christ (John 19:39-42)
