Russia's weapons production has actually increased dramatically despite Western sanctions, report says.
— Western sanctions have failed to impede Russia's weapons production. — Russia has significantly increased manufacturing of key weapons since invading Ukraine. — Kh-101 cruise missiles: from 56 per year in 2021 to 460 in 2023. This represents an increase of over 700%. — Iskander ballistic missiles: from about 50 before the invasion to 180. This is more than a threefold increase. — Overall increase in production of artillery rounds, missiles, and drones.
Why sanctions failed?
— Overly cautious decision-making by Western governments. — Delays in sharing intelligence among Western allies. — Failure to block Russia's access to crucial electronic components. — For example, Russia maintains ample supply of Irish-manufactured antennas used in bomb glide kits.
