📰 News Report: Fee Irregularity Alleged at Punjab School of Eminence
In Nawanshahr, a controversy has emerged at a government-run Punjab School of Eminence after parents alleged that they were charged ₹5,000 for admission, far higher than the officially prescribed fee of around ₹876.
According to reports, the issue came to light when a parent raised a complaint with Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains. Families claim they were asked to pay the higher amount during Class 11 admissions, often without proper receipts, creating concerns about transparency and accountability. ([The Indian Express][1])
Many parents also said they felt pressured to pay the amount out of fear that their child might lose admission if they refused. The large gap between the official fee and the amount allegedly collected has triggered public concern.
