The crisis in education is no longer limited to classrooms or examination halls. It begins with immense parental expectations, where success is often measured only through ranks and marks. As students grow, they face intense competition, uncertainty, financial burdens, and social isolation. Aspirants preparing for competitive examinations spend years sacrificing opportunities, yet receive little emotional or institutional support. Their mental health is frequently overlooked.
The final blow comes when the integrity of examinations is compromised. Paper leaks, irregularities, delayed recruitments, arbitrary cancellations, and lack of accountability shatter not only careers but also trust in the system. When a fair examination cannot be guaranteed, merit loses its meaning, and hope turns into frustration.
India's demographic dividend can become its greatest strength only if young people believe that hard work will be rewarded fairly. Every examination must represent equal opportunity, transparency, and credibility.
The way forward is clear: strengthen examination security through technology and independent oversight, ensure time-bound investigations and strict punishment for those involved in malpractice, conduct recruitments within fixed timelines, provide accessible mental health support for students and aspirants, and create a culture where parents, institutions, and society value learning and resilience over mere ranks.
The voices heard today at Jantar Mantar were not asking for shortcuts or favours. They were demanding something fundamental—a system where honesty is protected, merit is respected, and every student can dream with confidence that their hard work will receive the justice it deserves.
