Here is what I mean by CLARITY. Every day I help my clients transform vague messages into clear requests/statements/questions. ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

This is the most common request - "I want to be more CLEAR in English and I want them to see who I am. I don't want them to see someone Russian/Spanish/Italian trying to find the right English words" I can help you with ANY presentation in English. We will structure it, shorten it, find the right words, articulate the big takeways and create an engaging introduction. Quite often, you don't need any introduction though. Most people want to learn to get to the point using as few words as possible. If you need help with: - preparing for your annual review in English - preparing for a job interview with HR or a business owner - pitching your business - preparing a speech for a conference - telling stories to get your point across - selling your product/service in English DM me @nataliatokar I offer both private sessions (90 min + 7 days of feedback) and mentorship programs (three, six, and twelve-month containers to help you become a clear, confident, and articulate speaker)

⬆️ Why adding more “please” and “thank you” won’t help you sound polite or warm in English. If you struggle with expressing it, focus on being it. Being speaks volumes. Cultural differences don’t really make us different. Human needs are universal.

A new video to explain the quote I posted earlier about CONTROL vs INFLUENCE. https://youtu.be/YjKJcCxcK9w

Many people come to me saying they need exceptional English skills FAST. They lack the understanding of the key ingredient: consistency. Before you become exceptional, you must become consistent. If you stick with your practice for at least a year, you can get ahead of everyone who’s better than you today. Truth is simple: if your progress is not happening fast, you’re not as good as you think you are. This was the hardest pill for me to swallow many years ago. I was excellent on paper. And I was below average in a room full of people that I wanted to connect with in real life. People give up because practice is painful. Yes, you must be willing to endure the pain of progress. Your old habits and patterns will need to die. It’s freaking painful. Your own expectations hurt you. You control how everything “should” work, how fast you “should” progress, and how easy it “should” be. When you simply commit to becoming a better human, you experience true freedom. “Greatness rejects all first-time applicants”. As soon as you stop practicing , you go back to being the person who doesn’t practice and haven’t practiced for a while… You become “the first-time applicant” again with no real experience of consistent practice, but a lot of expectations of how fast the practice should bring results.

Many entrepreneurs want to improve their English to find investors who can give them the funding they need. Many wives want to improve their English to get their native-speaking husbands to give them what they need. Many professionals want to improve their English to impress recruiters and get the job that they need. You get the point. So many of us believe we have control over what others will do for us. - If we speak better, they will listen... - If we know smart words, they will choose us. -If we say it politely, they will give us what we want. People invest money and effort into learning how to "get others to do what I want”. In reality, we have no control over others. All we have is influence. If your goal is to improve your English to influence your team, stop controlling YOUR words and THEIR reactions to what you say and how you say it. I often see people become frustrated when they receive an unwanted reaction. They’ve spent so much time learning and preparing their words, and the other person seems unimpressed...or doesn’t respond as was expected of them. Instead of practicing control, you can practice influence. This means being consistent and congruent with your values. - Stop controlling every word you say in English. When you pressure yourself, you freeze and forget all your words. - Stop expecting others to approve of every word you say. - Stop apologizing for your bad English. Simply learn to speak better. Become the person who is committed to improving their communication skills in another language. Stop being that person that demands understanding. How many times in the last 6 months have you said: "I'm sorry, my English isn’t good"? And how long have you been using that as an excuse? A few months? A few years? If your English skills aren’t where you want them to be, improve them. Influence your own choices, and watch how BEING WHO YOU ARE will positively influence everyone around you. ❤️ I help advanced English learners get beyond "English levels" and express themselves authentically and spontaneously in English. DM me (@nataliatokar), and I will help you choose the right learning plan using my methodology for achieving native-like fluency.

The transcript is below ⬇️ The purpose of learning a foreign language is to become someone real, someone who can be herself in another language and authentic in her relationships with others. It means becoming someone who can speak another language effortlessly. “Speak” is not the best word, though. A lot of people can speak, but few people have something to say. I rather mean express my truth, say what matters, communicate what I mean, connect with what others say and mean, and understand more than just the words. It also means becoming some one who is able to translate her experiences into conscious speech. This means telling stories that inspire, provoke, and connect people. This means going deeper than the surface-level small talk. And here we go. Depth always means intimacy. To be intimate with someone means to be able to see into them. “intimacy” is “into - ME - see”. You can't be intimate with someone if you don't know them and if you don't know how to communicate with them in a way that shows them that you're willing to really know them. How can I become all that? I am already becoming this person, regardless of how many languages I speak. It's not the language that I want to learn, but how I express myself in this language, which means my real focus is speech. My speech is how people experience my English, not my knowledge about the English language. The real purpose is people, better relationships, and meaningful connections. “People” include myself too. This process inevitably leads to understanding both myself and others.

I feel like sharing my writing with you too. Here is what I wrote this morning during the Sunday Practice Session (yes, I do every exercise together with you😉)

Today, on Feb 16, 2025, we did a guided creative writing practice in the community. Creative Writing is one of the best exercises to find and internalize new vocabulary. You don't have to think about your pronunciation, grammar, or worry about your mistakes as you write. We separate the creative process of writing and the conscious, effortfull process of editing. Writing helps you learn to THINK in English, i.e. revisit your thinking patterns in a foreign language. Writing also helps you access deeper layers of what you think you already know. It helps you connect with your personal truth. Today, we used this prompt:
The question is not "What will I learn?" The real question is "Who will I become?"
