وَما كُنتُ راضٍ مِن زَماني بِما تَرى وَلَكِنَّني راضٍ بِما حَكَمَ الدَهرُ فَإِن كانَت الأَيّامُ خانَت عُهودَنا فَإِنّي بِها راضٍ وَلَكِنَّها قَهرُ 𓂃˖الشافعي𓂃˖
'I never favored what my time had to show,Yet I bow to what destiny has decreed.And if the days betrayed the vows we did owe,I accept their terms, though they force me to yield.'

إِنَّنَا مَسْؤُولُونَ عَنِ النَّظَرِ فِي أَنْفُسِنَا؛ لِأَنَّ الَّذِي يَعْجِزُ عَنْ مَعْرِفَةِ نَفْسِهِ، وَمَا فِيهَا مِنَ ال
إِنَّنَا مَسْؤُولُونَ عَنِ النَّظَرِ فِي أَنْفُسِنَا؛ لِأَنَّ الَّذِي يَعْجِزُ عَنْ مَعْرِفَةِ نَفْسِهِ، وَمَا فِيهَا مِنَ الْعَجَائِبِ وَالْغَرَائِبِ، لَا أَمَلَ لَهُ فِي أَنْ يَعْرِفَ نَفْسَ سِوَاهُ، وَهُوَ إِنْ فَكَّرَ فِي الْحُكْمِ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ، فَإِنَّمَا يَجُوبُ الْبَيْدَاءَ فِي اللَّيْلَةِ الظَّلْمَاءِ. 'We are responsible for examining ourselves; because he who is incapable of knowing his own self, and the wonders and marvels it contains, has no hope of knowing the self of another. If he thinks of judging others, he is merely wandering through a vast desert on a pitch-black night.'
