This is absolutely fucking disgraceful. Mohammed Rasel Ahmed, a delivery driver from Bangladesh working in the UK, was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court after being convicted of attempting to sexually abuse a 13-year-old girl. His sentence? 12 months’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months. 20 days of rehabilitation activity. 200 hours of unpaid work. A serious sexual offence involving a child, and he isn’t immediately behind bars. How is that supposed to give victims confidence in our justice system? I don’t care where someone comes from if you commit a serious offence against a child, the punishment needs to reflect the seriousness of what you’ve done. Children deserve protecting. Victims deserve justice. And the public deserves a justice system that takes offences against children seriously. This sentence is fucking unbelievable.
