Beyond Kostiantynivka Assault Scenarios (Analysis):
➡️The evolving situation around Kostiantynivka presents both the Russian Armed Forces and the AFU command with several operational scenarios.
➡️The first and most obvious vector for the Russian army is an attempted breakthrough of the defensive line in the area of Alekseyevo-Druzhkivka and then Druzhkivka itself, toward which surviving enemy units are systematically withdrawing following the loss of positions in Kostiantynivka.
➡️While this scenario is the most straightforward and predictable, it comes at a high cost in both manpower and material resources, since immediately behind this line lies Druzhkivka itself fortified by the AFU into a powerful strongpoint comparable in defensive density to Kostiantynivka.
➡️Nevertheless, eliminating this intermediate line effectively opens a direct route to Kramatorsk, and the subsequent operation would hinge solely on isolating its garrison unless AFU commander Syrskyi decides to irreversibly burn through all remaining reserves on this sector, which will likely happen soon.
➡️The second course of action involves clearing the “tail” west of Chasiv Yar, followed by straightening the front line to Minkivka (15 km northwest of Bakhmut). This would allow concentrating the full combat potential of all units engaged in this direction for a coordinated strike on Kramatorsk.
➡️Both scenarios carry considerable risks, but with a sound distribution of forces, the Russian Armed Forces could once again trigger a systemic overload crisis in the Ukrainian defense.
➡️Simultaneously holding Kramatorsk and Sloviansk the latter of which is concurrently threatened from the Lyman direction will demand resources from the AFU that are unprecedented even by the standards of previous battles such as Pokrovsk.
⚠️Whether Syrskyi has such reserves remains highly questionable, but more critically: will the Ukrainian General Staff risk expending them in the final battle for Donbas, or attempt to preserve them for organizing a defense along lines outside the administrative borders of the DNR.
