Today, more people are travelling than ever before. Why is this the case? What are the benefits of travelling for travelers?
In recent times, there has been an increase in the number of people travelling. While the reasons behind people’s willingness to travel range from lower costs to the accessibility of online booking platforms, I believe that exploring new destinations offers various benefits, especially by encouraging social interaction and fostering interpersonal growth. The increase in travelling among people can be linked to a wide range of recent factors. With the affordability of airfares, along with the availability of online bookings, people can compare flights, hotels, and destinations from the comfort of their homes, encouraging many to travel more frequently. Given these circumstances, it comes as no surprise that individuals can plan and carry out trips on short notice, exploring diverse destinations with remarkable ease. Gone are the days when airline tickets were prohibitively expensive; today, even those from middle-income families can afford airfares, making travelling accessible to a much wider population. From an optimistic perspective, travelling serves as a powerful catalyst for fostering social interaction and communication skills. When people journey beyond their familiar environment, they are naturally encouraged to communicate with strangers from different walks of life, collaborate with fellow travelers, and interact with local residents in a bid to navigate daily challenges. This, by extension, allows individuals to develop greater empathy, emotional intelligence, and patience, all of which can enable individuals to form healthy relationships, thus leading to wider social circles. This enhanced social literacy is particularly valuable for introverted individuals, who struggle to fit into groups or get along with friends, given the lack of social engagement. In conclusion, while the growing popularity of travelling can be largely attributed to the reduction in airfares and the convenience of online booking platforms, I assert that it promotes social interaction and communication skills.

The difference in students’ academic performance at university or college compared to school can be linked to external pressures. With the rapid increase in tuition fees, along with soaring living expenses, modern university students feel compelled to work relentlessly to cover daily expenses such as paying the bills, buying groceries or commuting, which leaves them feel worn out and overwhelmed. Given these circumstances, it comes as no surprise that students barely allocate sufficient time to their studies and struggle to complete their assignments on time, thus leading to a decline in academic performance. Gone are the days when learners would dedicate themselves entirely to academic pursuits without economic anxiety; today, financial volatility has created an environment where students gravitate towards survival over scholarship.
