ඒක ඇත්ත නම් තව අවුරුදු 4ක් 5ක් යද්දී AI tools ගොඩක් use කරන්න වෙන්නේ paid subscriptions එක්ක වෙන්න පුළුවන්. හරියටම කියන්න බෑ ඉතින්. මට නම් මේ AI industry එක ගැන පොඩි theory එකක් තියෙනවා.
Think about it.
AI companies අපිට මෙච්චර powerful models free දෙන්නේ ඇයි? අපිට උදව් කරන්න තියෙන ආදරේටද?
Obviously, there's a business behind it. Free versions දීලා users attract කරනවා, feedback ගන්නවා, models improve කරනවා, අපේ daily workflows වලට AI integrate කරනවා. හැම company එකම අපේ data වලින් models train කරනවා කියලා කියන්න බෑ. But still, the strategy is interesting. අපිට නොදැනීම "AI නැතුව බෑ" කියන mindset එක අපේ ඔලුවටම කාවද්දනවා වෙන්න බැරිද? දැන් බලන්නකෝ. Almost හැම industry එකකම AI use කරනවා. Especially IT industry එකේ. Coding, debugging, designing, researching, learning, documentation, literally everything. අපි AI එකට කොච්චර dependent වෙලාද කියලා තේරෙන්නේ සමහරවිට ඒක නැති වුණ දවසකට වෙන්න ඇති. And the crazy part is, මේ companies AI infrastructure වලට invest කරන සල්ලි ප්‍රමාණය. Data centers, GPUs, electricity, cooling systems, model training... මේ හැමදේටම billions of dollars යනවා. Anthropic වගේ companies පවා AI infrastructure වලට massive investments announce කරලා තියෙනවා. ඉතින් මට තියෙන ප්‍රශ්නය තමයි, මෙච්චර සල්ලි යට කරලා free services දෙන්නේ ඇයි? Of course, competition, long-term revenue, market dominance. It's business.
First make people depend on the product. Then monetize that dependency.
මම කියන්නේ හැම AI company එකකම secret plan එක මේක කියලා නෙවෙයි. But isn't that a possibility worth thinking about? තව දෙයක් තමයි මේ AI bubble එක. Personally, මට හිතෙනවා මේ decade එක ඇතුළත AI industry එකේ ලොකු turning point එකක් එයි කියලා. එක්කෝ මේ AI bubble එක burst වෙයි. Overhyped startups fail වෙයි, investments අඩු වෙයි, market එක correction එකකට යයි. නැත්තම් අපිට හිතාගන්නවත් බැරි තරම් technology evolve වෙලා completely different world එකක් අපිට බලාගන්න ලැබෙයි. Maybe both. මම නම් කැමතියි මේ AI hype එක පොඩ්ඩක් හරි අඩු වෙනවා නම්. AI technology එක නැති වෙනවට නෙවෙයි, industry එකේ තියෙන මේ crazy rush එක අඩු වෙනවට. මොකද දැන් බලද්දී IT industry එකේ major infrastructure සහ AI ecosystem එකේ ලොකු කොටසක් control කරන්නේ handful of giant companies ටිකක්. ඉස්සර වගේ developers ලා experiment කරන, communities වලින් learn කරන, independently build කරන culture එක තවත් strong වෙනවා නම් මරු. මතකද ඉස්සර coding කරද්දී error එකක් ආව ගමන් Stack Overflow පීරනවා. Documentation කියවනවා, forums වල answers හොයනවා, එක solution එකක් වැඩ නැත්තම් තව එකක් try කරනවා. සමහර වෙලාවට එක bug එකක් fix කරන්න පැය ගණන් යනවා. But ඒ process එකේ අපි දෙයක් ඉගෙනගත්තා. ඒත් දැන්, Screenshot එකක් ගහලා AI එකට දානවා. "Fix this error." Done.(lol) මම කියන්නේ AI use කරන එක වැරදියි කියලා නෙවෙයි. මමත් use කරනවා. AI නිසා learning easier වෙලා තියෙනවා. Time save වෙනවා. Productivity වැඩි වෙනවා. ඒක deny කරන්න බෑ. But here's the real question.
Are we actually learning, or are we just getting answers?
AI එකෙන් code එකක් generate කරගන්නවා. ඒක run වෙනවා. Project එක complete. But ඇත්තටම ඒ code එක වැඩ කරන්නේ කොහොමද කියලා දන්නවද? ඒකේ error එකක් ආවොත් AI නැතුව fix කරන්න පුළුවන්ද? අපි learning කියලා කරන්නේ just asking How do I do this? and copying the answer. That's not always learning. Sometimes that's just getting the work done. ඒ දෙක අතර ලොකු difference එකක් තියෙනවා. ඒත් ඉතින් technology එක evolve වෙන එක නවත්තන්න බෑ. ඒක නවත්තන්න ඕනෙත් නෑ. Maybe මේකත් internet revolution එක වගේ වෙයි. Maybe AI bubble එක burst වුණත් AI technology එක තවත් strong වෙයි.
Who knows?
අපේ gen එකත් මාරු හැබැයි. Internet evolution, smartphones, social media, pandemic, crypto hype, AI revolution literally everything experienced DMN.
ඉදිරි අවුරුදු 5ක් 10ක් ඇතුළත ලෝකේ කොච්චර වෙනස් වෙයිද කියලා හිතාගන්නත් අමාරුයි. But one thing I'm sure about. AI should be a tool that improves our thinking, not something that replaces our ability to think.
අන්තිමට මට තියෙන ප්‍රශ්නය මේකයි. හෙට ඉඳන් ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot ඔක්කොම නැති වුණොත් අපිට අපේ වැඩ ටික කරගෙන යන්න පුළුවන්ද? Or have we already become too dependent?
